**Andrew**
The replacement for Desmia was nothing like her personality wise. Her name was Serena but we were supposed to call her Desmia and Mia in front of the public. I was put in charge of teaching her how to act, since I knew the most about Desmia. I told her to just act like a princess who was fair and kind. Obviously, she didn't understand that. "Go fetch me one of my favorite dresses and a pair of my shoes." she told me and I sighed as I walked over to MIa's closet and pulled one of the dresses that I thought Desmia used to look beautiful in and picked the shoes that Desmia wore with them, then handed them to Serena. She went behind her changing curtain and when she came out a breath caught in my throat. Serena looked so much like Mia, it made me miss her even more. "Does it look alright?" she asked trying to look at herself.
"You look like the princess herself, Serena." I said. She threw me a look.
"If I am to be this princess of yours, then you shall call me Desmia or Mia as you would've her. You shall refer to me as your princess, not a mere look-alike." This is what I meant when I said she wasn't like Mia personality wise.
"Yes, Ser-- Desmia." I corrected myself. She put her chin up in a stuck-up fashion and looked in the vanity. She picked up Desmia's hair brush and began to pull the brush bristles through her hair, over each soft brown curl.
"How does Desmia do her hair?" Serena asked and I did something I probably shouldn't have.
"I don't know, princess. You are the one who is Desmia. How should I know what you do with your hair?" I said, throwing her words back at her. She glared at me from the mirror.
"How do you think my hair looks best, Andrew?" she rephrases her question.
"I like it the way it is now, princess." I say honestly. She thinks about my answer for a little then she puts the hair brush down.
"Okay, shall we go to see Mother and Father?"
"We can do as you wish, Desmia. You are the princess." I said. The real Desmia would've rolled her eyes and said that the way I was talking about her was ludicrous. But as this was a completely different girl, the only thing linking her with Desmia was her similar looks, she just nodded and we walked through the corridors together in silence.
"Will you tell me about myself, Andrew?" she asked softly as we walked.
"You are my best friend, you like to play games with me. Like hide and go seek, tag, and such. We tell each other everything and you are kind and fair and nice. You are the face of our kingdom, the girl that everyone envies and wishes they were you. Anyone in this kingdom would give their life for yours if you needed it." I said.
"Does that include you, Andrew?" she asks.
"Yes, especially me." I respond right away. Serena looks at me quizzically.
"You have a crush on me." she accuses.
"No, not on you." I say because this is true. I do not love her, I don't spend every second of my life thinking about her. I'm thinking about Desmia. I love Desmia. She tolls her eyes.
"Fine, you love that other girl." she says dismissively.
"She's not 'that other girl.' She's our princess, yours and mine both." I say.
"No, I am the princess." she says.
**Desmia**
The palace here was even more breath taking than the one in my dimension. This one was beautiful and it sparkled in the sunlight. I guess it was so dazzling because it was in this dimension where the Shinies ruled so everything had to be bright and shiny. At the front gates the guards bowed to me and said "Welcome back, Princess Desmia Diamond." I smiled vibrantly back at them as we walked up the steps into the palace doors. The part of my soul that remained here joined with me so I could be one person. Mother and Father were both Shinies. They hugged me, the fabric of their clothes feeling like the rushing water from the brook in the meadow.
