Keith POV
Soulmates. The person in someone's life that makes them feel complete. Makes the feel whole. Makes them feel... important. This is how people feel after meeting their soulmate. Before, however, is a completely different story. Your eyes are grey, and you feel incomplete. But when you meet your soulmate, your eyes turn to their meant to be color, and the place your soulmate first touches you turns into their favorite color. People generally meet their soulmate before the age of 18. It is entirely possible they meet their soulmate before and after those ages as well. Not everyone meets their soulmate, and this could change a person's life forever. People who never meet their soulmate usually grow to be more irritable, lonely, and depressed. These people are called "The Hopeless". Though it is very-
I shut the book. I put it in my bag and put my head on my desk closing my grey eyes. After a moment I look back up, but not too much, making sure my black hair was covering my face. Soulmates are a sensitive topic for me, considering I hasn't met mine yet. I have 3 months until I turn 18. After that, I'll probably get called a Hopeless. Sure, people can meet their soulmate after they turn 18, but that is an extremely rare case. So, everyone is called Hopeless immediately after they turn 18 and haven't met their soulmate.
The bell rings, signaling the end of class. And, even better, the end of the day. I let out another sigh and grabs my things to leave. Before I can make it out the door I'm stopped by my teacher, Mr. Altea. Everybody calls him Coran, though.
"Hey, Keith, can you stay back for a moment?" Coran says, in his usually friendly voice.
I look bac at my teacher. His orange-looking hair was tied back, making his mustache very noticeable. I stop walking to the door and head to Coran's desk. I stop in front it, standing directly across from where Coran was sitting. He had his elbows on the desk, sitting forward. A position that I know meant that he meant business.
"How are you doing, Keith?" Coran asks, his voice soothing and genuine.
"Fine." I say shortly.
Coran sits for a second, seemingly thinking about what to say. He then releases a large breath, sitting up and folding his arms on his desk. "Keith, your birthday is in 3 months, and I just wanted to tell you not to worry. Many people who turn 18 before they meet their soulmate tend to do.... irrational things." He paused for a moment. "I know it may seem bad, and you may feel anxious, but I just want you to relax and the universe do it's thing." He smiles, the smile going up to his purple eyes.
I stand there for a few seconds, staring at the ground. Then I quickly look up at Coran, not making eye contact.
"Okay." I say, and walk out.
~Time Skip~
I walk in and shut the door behind me. "Shiro! I'm home!" I shout, walking to my room. I set my bag on my bed. My room isn't much. I have a black bed set and pale grey walls. I don't feel the need to put things in my room. It was just meant for sleeping, nothing else. The only thing to decorate my room was small desk in the farthest corner. On it was just a laptop.
"In the living room!" I hear my older brother shout from somewhere in the house.
I walk to the living room, sitting down on the rocking chair beside the couch. I look over to my brother, who's sitting on the couch looking at his phone, his white hair in his face slightly.
Shiro puts down his phone and looks at his brother. "How was school, Keith?"
"Okay." I say simply. Looking at the TV that had some sort of sport on it.
Shiro opened his mouth to say something, but was cut of by his phone going off. He picks up his phone quickly, surprising me.
After a moment I feel my confusion melt away. Shiro, my brother, was most likely talking to his soulmate, Adam. Shiro had met his soulmate when he was 16. They've been together even since. They don't live together, though. I had once asked him why he hadn't asked Adam to move in, and he had said he didn't want me to feel uncomfortable. Which I knew was bullshit. Shiro was too scared to ask Adam to move in, although he very well could, considering Shiro was 25 and owned the house we live in.
"You asked Adam to move in yet?" I ask with a smirk.
Shiro spares me a playful glare with his dark grey eyes before immediately going back to texting Adam.
Shiro puts down his phone once again, and looks at me with a look of seriousness across his face. "Did you get into any fights today?"
I look away from the TV to the floor, glancing at my brother once. "No."
Shiro gives me a small smile, "Good. We don't need anymore of those. And, remember, if someone tries to pick a fight with you-"
I interrupt him, "Don't fight back and just go to the office."
Shero smiles even bigger this time, getting of the couch and standing up. "Yup. I'm going to make dinner." He walks over to me and ruffles my hair affectionately before walking into the kitchen.
I have been in many fights, this year more so than others. Almost everyone at my school had already met their soulmate, and anyone who hasn't tends to draw attention. Bad attention. I get picked on, leading to said fights. I have a slight anger issue, a little sentence could put me off. Hence why I've been in so many fights.
I doesn't feel like I need a soulmate. But, if I got one, it would probably be a girl. Which I definitely don't want. 3 months, I remind myself. 3 months and everything would figure it's self out by then.
I could only hope.
