It was undeniably hard for Katherine to fall asleep that night. She was both scared and... Excited?
She never had a boyfriend before, so she didn't know if she would be a good girlfriend or not. She would try her best, that's for sure, but she was quite nervous. She had so much love inside of her, she was just hoping that her future husband was worthy of it.
He must be.
She was also hoping that her friends would be happy. She would hate to see them be in a bad, toxic relationship that they can do nothing about.
Oh, Merlin, what about my parents? Do they even know what's about to happen to us?
She shook her head, knowing that her parents would support her no matter what.
It took a while, but eventually, she fell asleep.
She had a weird dream that night. There was darkness all around her, however, she recognized she was standing by a lake. It was frozen, the trees around it were dead, black like coal. There were absolutely no signs of life around her. She walked towards the frozen lake, careful not to fall on the slippery ground. She bent down, slowly touching the ice. To her surprise, the frozen lake melted under her fingers, slowly turning into a beautiful greyish-blue colour. She looked up, seeing that the trees were no longer black, and she heard some birds chirping in the distance. The Sun started warming her body up slowly, as she stared at the silver trees around the lake in awe. She sat down under one of the trees, closing her eyes, feeling happier than ever.
Thank you.
She woke up with a smile on her face, feeling energized.
Taking a look around the room, she saw that everyone else was still sound asleep. She got changed and decided to go for a morning walk before breakfast.
Heading outside, she noticed the tree that the three Slytherin's were sitting under the other day. She looked around, and since no one else was near, she chose to sit down there.
Leaning her back on the tree, she closed her eyes. Katherine agreed with herself that no matter who she got paired up with, she would try her best to make it work.
"Enjoying the morning Sun?"
She opened her eyes, smiling up at her friend.
"Good morning, Pansy."
The Slytherin smiled back and sat down next to her.
"How are you feeling about today?"
"I'm just hoping for the best," Katherine shrugged. "What about you?"
"I just hope that I don't get paired with a Gryffindor," Pansy grimaced.
"Come on, they aren't that bad," Kat chuckled.
"You don't think anyone's that bad," Pansy rolled her eyes, smiling.
"True."
They sat there in silence, both of them tangled up in their own thoughts.
"Come on," the Hufflepuff said finally, standing up. "We don't want to be late for breakfast."

"Ah, I'm so excited!" Annie cheered as she sat down next to Katherine in the Great Hall.
"Are you that hungry?"
"No, silly," she slapped her arm playfully, then she saw her best friend raising her eyebrows in surprise. "I mean, yes, obviously, but I wasn't talking about the food."
"What?" Mary joined in, sitting down on the other side of the table. "Annie Blank wasn't talking about food for once? Pinch me!"
The red-haired girl just rolled her eyes, crossing her arms on top of the table.
"Seriously guys, aren't you excited at all?"
"Well, I don't think they're excited," Katherine said, looking towards the entrance of the Great Hall.
Hermione Granger was speed walking towards the Gryffindor table, Ron Weasley following her with a mad expression.
Mary turned back to the girls.
"Yikes."
The two of them just nodded at that, feeling sorry for the couple.
After breakfast was over, everyone except the 7th years rushed to their classes. The school year had officially begun for them.
The 7th years had a little more time to themselves since the pairs would only be announced in the afternoon.
After finishing their breakfast, the three Hufflepuff girls started walking towards their Common Room.
"Should we go outside to read or something?" Annie suggested.
They nodded, then all of them grabbed a book from their dorms and they went outside. They decided on a spot near the Quidditch Pitch and sat down in the grass, opening their books.
Everything seemed peaceful until they heard shouts, which were becoming louder and louder.
They spotted the Gryffindor and the Slytherin team arguing about something.
"Girls!" Annie squealed.
Mary and Katherine looked towards where Annie was looking, and there was the one and only, Chase Bennett.
"Keep calm, Annie," Mary smiled, turning back to her book.
Annie sighed, then decided to go back to reading as well.
Kat looked over at the Slytherin team, and her eyes met with Draco's. She looked down to her book, then looked up again, only to see that his eyes were still fixed on her. He smirked at the fact that she looked back, then he turned his attention back to the argument that was happening in front of him.
She looked over to her friends, and she noticed that Mary was looking at her. She smiled at Kat, then she went back to her book again.
