After opening their bedroom door, Katherine was met with a quiet and serious-looking Draco.
"Hey," she greeted him, but she didn't get a reply.
Walking closer, she noticed that he was holding a piece of paper and was probably still reading whatever was on it, so she remained silent.
A few minutes passed, still nothing.
The Hufflepuff bit the inside of her cheeks, waiting for him to say or at least do something.
When even more time went by and still nothing happened, she decided to break the silence.
"Did something happen?"
To her relief, Draco blinked, then he put the paper down on the coffee table and ran his hands through his hair.
"Draco, what's –"
"I got a letter from my father."
Katherine's eyes widened at the mention of his dad. She tilted her head slightly, starting to get nervous.
"And?"
He let out a big sigh, then he locked his eyes with hers.
"They want to meet you."
Suddenly she became paler than snow.
Want to. Not would like to, want to.
"Oh... Really?"
"Really."
"So... Will they meet me?"
"At some point, definitely. I suppose they would want to come to our wedding, so they'll obviously meet you sooner or later."
She furrowed her eyebrows at him.
"You know what I meant."
"Well... They invited us for dinner on Sunday, so yes, the will meet you."
"Wait, you already decided that we're going?"
"Yes, I mean, what else was I supposed to do?"
"I don't know, probably ask how I felt about it first?"
"Why, how do you feel?" Draco crossed his arms on his chest.
"Maybe I don't feel like I'm ready for that, didn't that possibility cross your mind?"
"No, it didn't," he answered instantly.
"Well, thanks."
"What is there to be ready for? They are my parents!"
"Exactly!" Katherine raised her voice. "I mean, I don't even know you that well yet, I don't think I'm ready to meet them."
"So what? Do you want me to tell them that we're not going?!"
"Yes!"
"Forget it."
He picked the letter up and turned away from her.
"So you're going to force me to go even though I told you that I wasn't ready?"
"Well, you're not giving me much of a choice, so yes, that's exactly what I'm going to do."
"Yeah? Good luck with that, then."
"What do you –"
He turned back around, only to see her slip out the door and close it.
"Katherine!"
He ran to the door and left the room, trying to catch up with the Hufflepuff.
She was already at the top of the staircase when he closed the door.
"Kat!"
Draco started running after her, but when he reached the top of the staircase he heard a loud noise. Looking down, he noticed Katherine laying on the floor.
"What the hell, Kat?!"
The Slytherin rushed down, crouching down to try and help her.
"I fell down," she told him with her eyes closed.
"Yeah, I figured."
"My ankle made a funny noise."
"You must have broken it, congrats."
She sat up, then she touched her ankle.
"Ow!"
"So it hurts?"
"Yes. Will you help me up?"
"No."
"Why?" She raised her eyebrows at him with a disappointed face.
"There's no way you're going to stand on it."
"But –"
"No buts, Kat. I'm taking you to the Hospital Wing."
With that said, he reached his arms out and picked her up from the floor. Katherine's arms immediately found their place around his neck.
He started walking towards the door, then the two of them left their Common Room.
"Oh, by the way," she spoke up. "Ron says that he's sorry."
After hearing her words, Draco stopped.
"Ron? As in Ron Weasley?"
"Yes."
"And why were you talking to him?"
"Oh, I wasn't, I was actually talking to Aiden when –"
"You talked to Stone again?"
"Uh..."
"Why would you do that, Kat?"
"I thought I would give him a chance to explain himself, but... The point is, Ron asked me to tell you that he was sorry about the things he told you."
"Whatever, I don't really care."
"You don't?"
"No. The only thing I care about right now is taking you to the Hospital Wing before your ankle falls off."
She let out a light chuckle.
"Okay, it's not that bad."
"Do you want me to touch it?"
"No!"
"Yeah, that's what I thought."
