When I get back home the first thing I notice is the lights are still on, that means my mom hasn't gone to bed already. Usually, she get's home around eight, has dinner and goes to bed. It's ten now and the fact that she is still awake tells me that something is not right.
I unlock my door and get in. Mom is sitting on the couch, she had lighted the fireplace. The room was quiet, the television was off. I could only see the back of her head.
"Mom? I'm home." I say.
Her head turns to me and she smiles softly. "How was your date, sweetie?" She asks.
I frown. "It was good..." I reply, taking steps near her, "Why are you still awake?".
"Oh, it's because-".
"Crystal? Is that you?" A voice calls. I hear steps down the stairs and I look at my mom, looking for some kind of answer. She only smiles.
Then I see him. It seems like I hadn't seen him in forever. My heart immediately feels itself with warmth as a huge smiles crosses my face. I start running towards him, not caring that I had dropped my bag on the floor along the way.
"Mike!" I yell, opening my arms.
Out bodies meet and I embrace him tightly. Feeling his strong arms wrapping themselves around my little figure, almost crushing my bones.
"I missed you so much." I say, a knot in my throat had formed and I feel like I was about to cry.
"I missed you too, sis." He says into the hug.
We part. Looking at him, I analyze his features. He had changed so much I can barley recognize him. He smiles and cleans a single tear that had escaped my watering eyes with him thumb.
"You look so grown up!" He exclaims.
"Well, you look old!" I reply.
He laughs. "Thank you, forgot how sweet you were."
I smile. "I'm just kidding." I say, "But anyways, what are you doing here?"
He stands up. "Break from college, thought I should visit you guys!" He explained.
"You thought right! How long are you staying?" I ask.
"About two weeks." He tells me and I smile. That's long enough to spend a good amount of time with him.
"Great. Let me just change, I'll be back real quick." I excuse myself and run upstairs.
I take off my clothes and put on a pair of pajamas, feeling comfortable again. I also take my contacts off and put on my nerdy glasses. I only use them at home, I hate wearing them in public, don't ask me why. I just do.
As I run downstairs holding my phone, I receive a text. I stop walking to look at it.
Jack Gilinsky - Come over tomorrow, the guys miss you. I miss you.
A smile appears on my face as I remember the feeling of Jack's lips on mine. That was seriously one of the best dates I've ever been to and even if Jack and I don't work out, I'll remember it forever.
Me - That sounds good! But wait, didn't we just went out? How come you already miss me?
I walk down the rest of the stair and make my way to the kitchen to grab a bottle of water.
I receive another text.
Jack Gilinsky - Idk, I just do. That was one hell of a date, huh?
And I find myself smiling yet again. It sure was.
Me - Good, because I miss you too. It was, it really was.
