Protect is to cover or shield from exposure, injury, damage, or destruction. May it be to maintain the status or integrity of especially through financial or legal guarantees. It came from the Latin prōtēctus, past participle of prōtegere to cover in front, equivalent to prō- pro-1 + teg-, stem of tegere to cover (akin to toga, thatch) + -tus past participle suffix.
Story:
Reena:
I woke up, still a bit tired from yesterday, but I'm happy for Misaki though. As long as she's safe and her love for Joshua is present, that's good enough to keep her happy until they meet again. I stood up from bed and look over at my alarm clock, even though I forgot to set the alarm last night at least I woke up in time.
It's 6:21 am. That should be enough to prepare for school. I went out of my room then downstairs. I saw mom and dad already suited up for work. "Why so early?" I asked. "Oh, we have an important meeting for the whole day and have a dinner party after the meeting. We'll be back by midnight, dear. Breakfast is already cooked, and still hot." She said to me.
"Be good, sweety." Dad said to me with a smile from them both and they went out of the house, I went to the our porch and glanced at the view of them, leaving. Well, I'm used to it now though.
I went back inside the house and started to eat breakfast while watching the news. The reporter said, "The week of happiness is gone, the first day of July is born!" and so on. I finished eating my breakfast and look over at the clock, it's 6:32 am.
I should hurry a bit and go to school, but what I am wondering is that why isn't my brother awake yet? I asked myself that question and tried to check on him. I went upstairs and knocked on his door. "BB?" I asked.
Well I call him that and stands for big brother. It's a bit more of a unique way of calling siblings than just mere brother or sister. I knocked a few more times while saying "BB." But after a few seconds that has passed by.
I'm getting a bit worried. I opened the door even though without his permission. The sound of the door creaked when I opened it. I stick out my head as much as I could to see him. I find the view of him, enveloped by his blanket.
Well I guess he's tired from his part time job as the apprentice chef at Frore Cafe. It would be wise if he were to rest in bed for today. I went out of the room as I closed the door, I made a long sigh and went to my room then to the bathroom to of course take a bath.
Minutes passed by, I got myself to my uniform for school and prepared the things I need for the day. I went out of the room and looked at my watch, and its 7:10 am. I still have 20 mintues, a bit long for a 5 minute walk so I decided to check on BB once more.
I opened the door and went in without hesitance, I sat beside him on the bed and shook the blanket and grabbed the wrist as well. "Wake up." I said. I repeated those words a couple of times yet he didn't answer.
I decided to take off the blanket. I gaze upon a red face, heavy breathing, tired eyes, messy hair. "W-what's wrong?" I asked immediately. I put the back of the palm of my hand and put it on top of his forehead, he's burning hot!
"R-reena...?" he asked. Good thing he can still talk. "Sorry..." He added. "Why did you hide from me that you have a fever?" I asked yet he didn't answer. All I'm hearing are long exhalation from his mouth. "I'll get you some ice." I said and stood up.
As I was about to go to the door and go out of the room, he grabbed my wrist. "No... I'll be fine... go to school..." he said to me. Ugh! That's what I hate about him, he never takes care of himself that much and isn't aware of his health.
