"I can barely throw a punch, let alone kill ... something."
Vinny sighs. "I don't know what to tell you, y/n. This is all weird for me, too."
"So, what do I do? Just keep doing what I've been doing and hope that somehow, some way, I manage to actually kill this beast?" I ask.
"I dunno, but I do know that you are the best thing to come out of this, and regardless of whether or not Habit is always going to be this way, I'm always gonna be there. For you. Because you've been there for me too, and I just want to make sure that you know that."
I smile a little at that. Then I get up and hug Vinny.
"Thank you for being my friend."
"No, thank you, y/n. Without you, who knows where I'd be? I don't even want to think about it."
"Well, you've got me now, so you don't have to worry. You all do."
"Hey, maybe you can defeat him with your wicked whit and sarcastic charm!" Vinny says sarcastically.
"Haha." I elbow him in the ribs.
He lets out an "oof" and chuckles.
When we step back inside the house, it smells of blood and metal. I look at Vinny worriedly.
"Habit?"
We move through the house, calling his name as we go. Vinny holds my hand and walks ahead of me prospectively.
"Habit?"
He stops dead in his tracks.
"Oh my God," he breathes.
"What?" I demand, pushing my friend out of the way.
Only to see Habit laying on the floor, unconscious.
