flashback

The rain crashed down upon the school grounds. She ruffled her fingers through her navy backpack in search for something to shade her from the droplets of water that poured down like daggers. Sighing in defeat, she zipped up her bag and prepared to run in the rain.

As she stepped out of the shelters of the school compound, the water soaked into her clothes and bag and she struggled with her hands above her head, to try and cover her head from the rain. Her hair was beginning to soak and her clothes were now drenched. She shivered in the cold as she made her way past the desolute streets.

Suddenly, the water droplets above her seemed to lose contact with her head. She felt a warmth around her neck as a thick fabric was placed gently around her shoulders. She looked up, to meet his gorgeous eyes, the eyes that she always found herself getting lost in whenever she stared into them. Her heart fluttered as a bright smile appeared on her face.

"Mark."

He looked down at her and smiled back. But, the smile immediately turned into a worried expression as he held her in his embrace to keep her underneath the light umbrella that was held in his right hand.

"Areum, are you okay? How many times have I told you to not forget to bring your umbrella to school?" the words flowed out of his mouth in a rush, he began seemingly rapping his lectures at her for her usual carelessness.

She chuckled at his actions. What did I ever do to deserve such a caring angel in my life? She gently grasped his arms in hers and intertwined their fingers while she snuggled into his embrace.

"Don't worry. I'm fine."

"That's because a magnificent and brave hero popped out with an umbrella and saved you from the rain." he joked as he used his free hand to make a macho and egoistic looking pose.

She rolled her eyes as she smacked his arms. Immediately, she broke free from his hold as he winced in pain and she scurried away with him chasing and shouting behind her.

"Yah!"

Onlookers watched on in amusement and bewirdlerment as two drenched adolescents, one still holding on to the precious umbrella, ran down the streets. Laughter filling the air as they slowly disappeared into the horizon.
