Shoutout to Jungkook

Chapter 2

"Hi!!" She says, as soon as she sees me. I hug her and we make our way to the exit.

We sit in my car and drive off home.

"So! Looks like I'm gonna be staying with you for sometime!" She says, with a hint of excitement in her voice.

"Yeah! And it's going to be fun." I say, and give her a smile.

"So, what'd I miss?" She asks, turning to me.

"Well, I made a fool out of myself." I say, shrugging.

"What? How?" She asks, and I tell her about the incident at the airport.

"You what?! You shouted his name like that? And most of all, you met BTS?!" She says, all at the same time. Have I mentioned she's an all time BTS fan?

"Yeah, well. He was holding up the line. I thought Tae would never show up!" I say, and look at her with guilty eyes.

"You did that to my bias?! I can't believe it!" She says, and turns away from me. Did I mention that Jungkook is her bias?

"Maddie, are you gonna be mad at me for this?!" I ask, fake crying now.

"Just you drive for now, Miss Drama queen!" She says and we both share a laugh.

We reach home and I call my parents letting them know that I got her. She greets my parents. Have I mentioned how much my parents love her? No, okay.

"Hi darling! We're so glad you're staying over with HwaYoung. It's been so long since you babies had a sleepover." My mom says over the phone and I remind her that her babies are a whole 20 years old.

"Yea, it's been a long time." Maddie says, smiling.

Maddie has been my best friend since the time I got bullied in middle school and she stood up for me. I was a weak kid. But she was the only one who stood beside me and we've been friends ever since.

We go up to my room and start unpacking her stuff. After what seemed like ages, we organized her stuff.

"How much stuff did you carry back there?" I ask, tired now.

"Hey! It was a long trip." She tries to justify, and we sit back in our beds.

I have two single beds in my house. Since one was out in the other room, I shifted it in my room earlier so that we both could be in the same room.

"What's sticking out of your pocket?" She asks, eyeing my jeans.

Oh, I totally forgot. I didn't even check what it was. I pull it out and it's a velvety card. Maddie jumps onto my bed.

"What's this?" She smirks at me and I shrug in negative.

I turn it around and there's a number on it. Is that his number?

"Whoa! Is that Jungkook's number?" Maddie asks, as if reading my mind.

"I don't know." I simply answer.

"Call it!" She says, clearly excited.

"I can't. Why would he give me his number? Also, what if it's a random number he gave me as a prank to get back at me? And what if the person who picks up is a gross dude who says something I don't wanna hear?!" I say, making disgusted faces.

Maddie hits my arm and tells me it's gonna be nothing like that.

"I still can't call." I shake my head vigorously.

"Then text!" She says, and I think over it for a moment.

"I don't know. This isn't right." I say, and squint my eyes.

"Hey! If not for you, do it for me. I know you don't like him that much but do it for me! He's my bias. Besides, what if it's his number! Think about it." She says and waits for a response from me.

I sigh and pull out my phone. I type in his number and drop in a text.

Me:
'Hi. Whose number is this?'

"Here goes nothing." I say, and press send.

We wait for a few seconds but don't get a reply. I throw my phone on the bed.

"Let's go eat something. I'm hungry." I say, pulling Maddie downstairs into the kitchen.

We come back after eating some hot dogs and I see my phone buzzing.

"That must be him!" Maddie looks at me and proceeds to jump on my bed.

"Might not be him." I retort and take my phone.

It was the number.

Him:
'How'd you get this number?'

I text him back.

Me:
'Someone gave me this number.'

Him:
'Who did?'

I can't answer at this point but Maddie keeps eye signaling me to reply.

"Come on. Say something." She says and I shrug, not knowing what to reply.

The phone starts ringing suddenly. I throw it away as a reflex from the loud ringtone.

"He's calling you! Pick up!" Maddie says, handing me the phone.
