Shoutout to Jungkook

Chapter 20

I rush upstairs and change into my night clothes. I flop on my bed and look at the ceiling.

I can't believe what's going on! The person I like likes me back? I even had my first kiss. I slightly touch my lips and the scene plays in my head.

I blush and cover my head with my pillow. My phone suddenly buzzes and I check it.

Jungkook:
'Good night, princess. Sleep tight and dream of me.'

Me:
'As if. I only dream about Taehyung.'

Jungkook:
'Aye! Don't you dare.'

Me:
'Oh, I do dare.'

I laugh at our conversation.

Jungkook:
'Oi! Please! I confess to you and you're still hooked on to hyung?'

Me:
'Good night, Jungkook.'

Jungkook:
'Good night, HwaYoung.'

I keep my phone away and get ready to sleep.

The next morning, I receive a call from Maddie and she asks what happened last night.

"Maddie, meet me at the park near my house in the evening and I'll explain." I say, and she hangs up after agreeing.

I get my classes over with and patiently wait for the evening to arrive.

My phone suddenly rings and I pick it up to see Jungkook calling.

"Hi~" He says in a baby singing tone.

"Hey." I say.

"What's up?" He asks, and I roll my eyes. What's up? I laugh on the inside.

"Umm.. I'm going to meet Maddie in some time and tell her what happened yesterday." I say.

"What happened?" He asks, and I could sense a smirk on the other side.

"Yah, Jeon Jungkook!" I say, pretending to be angry.

"Okay, sorry." He says and laughs.

We talk about some usual stuff as he asks me how my day was and I ask how his day was. The usual conversation.

I hang up and look at the time. I get up and walk outside. The park where we are supposed to meet is close by. The clouds are clear today and the breeze feels soft.

I reach the park and sit on one of the benches, waiting for Maddie. She arrives in a few minutes and sits beside me.

"Hi." She says.

"Hey." I reply.

"So, what is it that you wanted to tell me?" She asks, and I straightaway tell her what happened the night before.

She sits with her jaw dropped and her eyes wide.

"Seriously?" She finally asks.

"I'm so sorry. I had no idea I had these feelings and I didn't know he liked me." I say and look down.

We sit for a few moments in the same position and then she suddenly stands up. I stand up too, facing her.

She hugs me suddenly and I'm taken aback.

"It's fine. I knew something was up between you two anyway. I just thought there was some hope for me, but I guess there just wasn't." She says, while hugging me.

She pulls away and looks at me.

"I'll find myself another celebrity." She says, and we both break into a laugh.

"Are you sure you're okay?" I ask, looking at the slight sadness in her eyes.

"Yeah. I can't fight my best friend over some guy." She says and I pull her in for a hug. She hugs me back.

And that's how the story ends.
