My eyes slowly fluttered open, and I pulled the blanket up a little higher to cover my bare chest. I rolled over onto my side, and looked at my sleeping fiancé- fiancé was definitely going to take some getting used to, but in a good way, like how you need to get used to a new car- unable to believe that last night actually happened. It started off with me almost ending things with us, then Drew made my heart stop with a proposal, then we showed our love to each other in the most magical way possible. It was something straight out of a fairytale. The princess marries the prince after almost never getting to see him again.
I started to slowly trace Drew’s lips with my finger remembering all the kisses that still lingered, all the precious moments we shared. My hand moved from his mouth to his arm remembering the way they wrapped tightly around me as I fell into a deep peaceful sleep. Next was his back, thinking of the way I placed my hands onto it. I couldn’t have imagined that even Cinderella felt this amazing with Prince Charming. This feeling was indescribable, and I was so drunk with this feeling. No one in history has ever felt like this before, not Juliet, or Mr. Darcy, not even Hazel Grace. There was only one logical way to even barely describe this feeling- love.
Drew started to stir, and I pulled my hand back not wanting to wake him since he had to work later. “Good morning, beautiful,” he breathed tucking a loose strand of my hair behind my ear.
“Did you sleep well?” I asked cuddling up to him more.
“Yeah, you?”
“Yeah, that was the best sleep I’ve had in weeks,” I said honestly.
“Are you okay, about last night, I mean?”
“Yeah, I mean, I feel amazing, Drew, physically and mentally. I’ve never felt like this before, and I hope this feeling never has to stop. How ‘bout you?”
“Last night was amazing, and definitely the best night of my entire life. I learned just how to make you blush. After all, I made you my fiancé,” he said kissing me over and over again.
“Baby, I would love to keep this going, but I really have to pee,” I said pulling away. Drew let out a loud laugh, and that only made me have to go even more. I hurried over to Drew’s closet grabbed a bra and panties out of my bag and then a long sleeved dark blue shirt out of his closet and put it on faster than the cars on NASCAR.
His shirt went mid thigh on me, so I didn’t bother to put pants on. I practically ran out of the room still listening to Drew bellowing from his room. I did my business, and then went to go get some coffee. I didn’t need woken up any more, this feeling had me plenty awake, but mostly I just liked the taste of coffee loaded with sugar and creamer.
I went the kitchen, and saw Megan already working on making some coffee. “I’m sorry, did I wake you up?” she asked looking at me.
“No, I just couldn’t sleep. What time is it?”
“Almost seven,” she answered putting water in the coffee pot.
“Why are you up so early then?”
“I like to be awake when Chase gets off work,” she said referring to her newlywed husband.
It was hard to believe that Megan was only four years older than Drew and six years older than me. She was married, had a successful husband, she had a good job as an accountant, and they were working on fixing up a house for them to move into. When they move in she thought about becoming a beautician. She also had the stress of recently finding out that she was barren, and unable to have children. Adoption was out of the question until she gets her own home. She always wanted kids, and I know it’s hard on her seeing everyone else have children when she doesn’t.
