“You can either sleep on the futon again or in the girls’ room. If you sleep in their room I’ll be outside the door,” Jonathan said.
“I’m alright with sleeping on the futon, and you’re more than welcome to sleep on it too,” I admitted bashfully.
“Alright,” he said pulling the futon out.
“Is it okay if I call Drew real quick?” I asked.
“Yeah, but stay in here.”
I dialed the number and when he answered I didn’t feel the same flutter of butterflies. Instead all I could think of was him with Carmin.
“Hey, baby,” he answered.
“Hey, could we talk?” I asked unsure.
“Yeah,” he answered equally nervous.
“We need to figure something out. You cheated on me and I can’t keep pretending it’s okay, Drew,” I breathed. Jonathan was watching me intently.
“Babe, come on, I told you. Me and Carmin are over. I thought we worked passed all that.”
“No we didn’t. You did. I’m still not convinced-”
“Tell me what to do and I’ll do it. I don’t want to lose you,” he protested. My heart broke at the thought of leaving Drew, but it broke even more when thinking of him with Carmin.
“Come to Aristole,” I invited.
“If that’s what’ll make you believe me then I will in a heartbeat.”
“Okay.”

“Hey, Carmin, it’s Drew,” I said after she picked up the phone.
“Hang on,” she said quietly. “Okay, now you can talk,” she said after a minute.
“I’m gonna have to cancel our plans for tonight,” I told her.
“What? Why?”
“I’m gettin’ married. I’m just not interested anymore,” I said. It was only half true.
“Jerk,” with that she hung up the phone. I’d call her back later about seeing Xavier.
“Do you want Laura, Jake, and Mia to come over for supper tonight?” Mom asked when I went back into the living room.
“Sure,” I said. I hadn’t seen Kriss’ aunt and cousins since the day she left. Quite frankly, I didn’t want to see them, but I’d do almost anything to make my mom happy.
“Mine and Meghan’s flight for Aristole leaves in six days and neither one of us are packed,” i joked with my mother.
“I know, what am I gonna do with an empty house?” Mom asked.
“The house won't be completely empty, my husband will still be here,” Meghan said.
“Yeah, but that boy is more nocturnal than a bat.”
“Meghan do you wanna help me with supper?” Mom asked my sister after checking the time.
“Sure, plus it'll give Drew some time to pack. Remember at least one nice suit,” Meghan explained.
“I don't think I have a super nice suit,” I said thinking aloud.
“Well, you’ll need at least two. One for your wedding, and one for meeting your future in-laws,” Mom said. “I’m sure Chase would go with you to get a suit.”
