Kriss jerked her hand away from mine and made eye contact with a man only a few feet away. He was dressed in a suit, but obviously not royal based on the way he was standing. His mannerisms weren’t right for being royal. I’d never seen him in the guard before.
“Drew,” Kriss breathed grabbing her stomach.
Drew? This was her fiance from America. The man who cheated on her, her didn’t treat her right, but she gave it her all.
“Wh-what are you doing here?” she asked shakily looking around. The rest of the guests at the party were too caught up in the other royals and nobles to worry about the princess having a quiet conversation with a commoner, but the paparazzi would love this.
I quickly moved to her left side and put my body perpendicular to hers to hide her face from the window.
“Two needed,” I said into my ear piece. Two of the other guards heard me and came to assist me in discretely blocking the princess from cameras and prying eyes.
“I came to see you. You said that’s what I had to do to prove that I loved you, so I did,” Drew said stepping closer. His hand was clenched at his side and I was ready to step between him and the princess in an instant if needed. Kriss looked at me nervously knowing that if anyone would ever try to hurt her I would defend her however necessary.
“Can we go somewhere private to talk?” Kriss asked me. I nodded and made a path to lead Kriss and the uninvited Drew to the study. I let the other two guards go back to the ball as there were no windows and I could easily protect the princess.
“Drew-” Kriss’ voice cracked.
“No, don’t-” Drew breathed clenching his jaw. “I didn’t come all this way just to have you break up with me.” He took a step closer to the princess.
“But you shouldn’t have had to come all this way to prove anything. You should’ve been faithful,” Kriss cried.
“Like you have?” Drew scoffed.
“I have been. I haven’t slept with anyone else, but you.”
“Don’t lie to me,” he raised his voice.
“I’m gonna need you to quiet down,” I said taking another small step towards him.
“Don’t tell me what to do,” he warned. Ha, this guy thought he was so tough. I wanted to hurt him for hurting Kriss.
“Calm down, both of you, please,” Kriss cried. Makeup was running down her face and her hands trembled. She needed to calm down, if not for her sake then the baby’s.
“No!” Drew shouted. “I’m not gonna calm down, Kriss! You’re cheating on me. I love you and want to be with me. I supported you in coming here and you repay me with this?”
“It’s not like that,” she cried.
“What about the baby? Huh, I bet it’s not even mine.”
Kriss shaked visibly with every verbal blow he gave.
“Calm down,” I said one last time.
“And I told you not to tell me what to do,” Drew chuckled then swung at me. He hit my jaw, but I recovered quickly. I grabbed his arm and bent it behind his back. He kicked at one of my legs, so I lost my balance momentarily.
“Stop!” Kriss screamed coming closer to us.
Drew kept fighting me. He kicked my leg one last time before I completely lost my balance and fell. Drew was on top of me hitting me in an instant. Every punch had pure hatred in it.
