“Are you ready, Princess?” Fiona asked?
I took a deep breath and nodded my head afraid that if I spoke the tears would fall.
The two guards at the door opened it and instantly I was blinded by the flash of cameras.
“Go!” Fiona whispered loudly to me.
I took a deep breath and walked slowly toward the front of the room keeping my head level, but not looking forward. I couldn’t see my parents yet. What if they weren’t like I’ve imagined.
Just then a familiar face in the sea of people caught my attention. My uncle. He was wearing a suit, but was handcuffed.
I had choke back the tears that were threatening to fall as I made my way closer the front of the room. Finally the red carpet I had been walking on ended. I looked up to see the moment I had been waiting for. My parents stood before me and an older boy. They were adorned in the same green and gold colors that I was wearing, but they had an air of sophistication about them.
I had to think through the haze of flashing lights and my own emotions to remember what I’d learned. Did I curtsy or announce myself next?
I curtseyed low, but kept my head up. My mom smiled, that must be a good sign.
I cleared my throat and loudly proclaimed, “I respectfully beg the pardon of the Royal Throne of Aristole!”
“Who begs the pardon of the throne?” my father said. I looked at him and felt so unsure of what to say next. Looking at him I couldn’t see any of the anxiety that I felt. He looked so calm and collected.
“Kristinna Dawn Maria James,” I said. A salty tear rolled down my face as I said the name.
“Step forward,” my dad said. I walked the few steps to stand on the platform equally with the rest of my biological family. Standing at a close distance I could see the pink shine to my mom’s eyes. I looked more like her than anyone else.
“Do you solemnly swear to uphold the honour of this kingdom?”
“I do,” I said.
“Do you solemnly swear to govern, lead, and protect the people of this land?”
“I do.”
“Do you solemnly swear to have mercy in your judgments when dealing with your people?”
“I do.” I knelt down in my dress and faced the people of the land I was about to help rule.
“I now present to you Princess Kristinna Dawn Maria James crowned princess of Aristole!” my father proclaimed as he placed a tiara on my head.
I stood up and glanced back at my family and saw the tears in my mother’s eyes.
as the people screamed “all hail the Princess!”
“At this time please excuse the royal family to a private chamber,” a guard said. My family walked out of a side door and I followed them with Jonathan following me.
The door led to another room, but not nearly as large. This room was more of a library, but had couches, chairs, a large TV, and an even larger fireplace. The door behind us clicked shut and it was then that all of the emotion in the room exploded.
“Come here, dear,” My mother said. I walked the few steps to stand directly in front of her and saw the tears that were streaking her perfectly colored cheeks. “Your so beautiful.”
