I couldn't feel the magician's thickly muscled tail around me. I couldn't feel the breeze, if there was one. Couldn't even feel my own fear.

I didn't notice when the magician released me, only wondered distantly why the world was rushing past.

A dull thud resounded in my skull.

A static ringing started in my ears.

This is the end, I thought numbly. Where's Skai?

But then the world was set in motion again. The world soared past my eyes, down down down, too fast for me to register. Then it switched directions, flying up up up. A second clang, and a weird roaring sensation filled my ears. Then the world ripped past me again, only, gray was encroaching my vision, until I could see nothing, and was only thinly aware of my consciousness.

With one last mental image of Skai and my family, I let go of my awareness and died.
