Picture of Erin (Emma Roberts) on the side!
I shivered as my hair tumbled out from under the wig and cascaded down my shoulders and back in smooth, chocolate waves. Stray strands framing my face fluttered lightly in the salty air as I held my breath.
Derek’s wide eyes flashed from my face to the wig in my hand and back.
I cringed in the stillness of the night, I never heard silence quite this loud.
He finally broke it with a rush of breath.
“You-you’re,” he swallowed, “A girl.”
I nodded, “Yeah.”
“You’re.... Erin.”
I nodded again, “Yeah.”
Derek’s legs buckled from underneath him as he fell onto his knees in utter shock.
“Bloody hell.”
“Derek,” I whispered, crouching down to help him up, “Derek-”
“Don’t touch me,” he barked brusquely, getting up from the ground, “Let go!”
I recoiled from his command and shoved my hands into the front pocket of my sweatshirt.
“Derek-”
Recomposing himself, his eyes immediately narrowed into angry slits, “You’ve been lying to me -to us- to everyone.”
I cringed at the accusation in his voice.
“Yes,” I whispered in a small voice, “But it was for-”
“And I suppose you want me to forgive you for lying and deceiving us?” he spat angrily, “Like some cliche crap where I’m suppose to say its okay?”
I winced, backing away from him, “Derek it’s not what you think.”
“Who are you?” he demanded, “Erin? Is that even your name?”
“Erin Burkley,” I answered weakly, “Derek, please just-”
“You lied to me!” he roared, “You pretended to be my friend! I told you everything!”
Tears started to cloud around the edges of my eyes and blurred my vision.
“No, no,” I whispered, “I wasn’t acting. I really am your friend!”
“Oh really,” he sneered sarcastically, “Then tell me, do friends lie to each other’s faces?”
I bit back a gasp, “Derek!”
“You pretended to be my friend. Then you used it against me. That’s sick!” he snapped.
I gasped, “I did no such thing Derek, I can’t believe you’d say that!”
My shaking hands enclosed on the wig tightened, my grip so strong that my knuckles began to turn white.
“You can’t possibly say-”
“You played me. Aaron, Erin. This was all a game to you. To see how long you could last at WM! To see how much crap you could get out of me. This was a game! And Colton and Savannah,” he fumed, “They were in on it!”
I shook in the cold as the salty drops from the ocean splashed into my face.
“Don’t blame them please,” I whispered, “This was all of my doing.”
Derek glared at me exasperatedly, “This is sick! You’re sick! Why-why would you do this? I told you everything! I trusted you! I trusted Aaron!”
