Head Over Feet

Coffee for One

RJ waits outside their classroom as his classmates come in ahead of him.

He hears the bell ring, and after a few minutes he hears the sound of heels clicking against the tiled floor.

He stands straight, checks his shirt, then fixes his eyes on the corner of the hall expecting Dei to turn up any second now.

And she does...

He meets her halfway down the hall, and hands her the coffee.

"Coffee, Miss Maine?"

"Oh, Hi Mr. Faulkerson, you're here early."

Dei continues to walk, not slowing her pace at all.

RJ speeds up to her.

"Yes Ma'am... Uhm, I hope you like Mocha Latte."

RJ smiles shyly.

"I take my coffee black. I want taste the real flavor....But thank you for your kind gesture."

Dei smiles at him warmly.

"Now run inside before I mark you absent."

Dei teases him as she sips from the cup.

RJ does as he is told, and makes it to his chair before she comes in the class.

"Good morning everyone." Miss Maine takes the floor.

It is a wonderful day.

Time indeed flies when you're having fun.

He never thought Psychology can be this exciting.

Or is it because of Dei and how she makes everything exciting?

Basta may exciting.

The bell rings and the class is over.

As everyone stands up and leaves, Dei says her usual line to all her Friday classes :

"It's a Friday! Don't do anything you will regret for the rest of your life."

RJ deliberately takes his time as he puts his things inside his bag and steals glances at her as she erases the whiteboard.

He passes through the front door and before he leaves the room, he talks to her.

"Miss Maine, see you later pala ha."

"Ha?"

"Ininvite ako ni Cai sa gimik nyo mamayang gabi. See you there ha?"

and RJ gives his most dashing smile and closes the door behind him.

Talaga itong si Cai o.

Dei thought as she dials her number.

"Hoy Cai."

"Mars! What's up?"

"Anong what's up? Bakit mo inimbita si RJ sa gimik natin mamayang gabi?"

"Wow RJ na ang tawag, nung isang linggo lang bagets tawag mo sa kanya."

"Ano nga. Studyante ko yun noh, ano na lang iisipin ng mga tao diba."

"Darling, nobody cares but you. Okay lang yan, para hang out lang naman eh. Unless may balak ka sa kanya."

"Tsk. To naman o. Asan ka ba? Ano oras tapos class mo?"

"Ala una."

"O tara magkita nga tayo sa Ate Ems pagkatapos."

"K fine. See yah!"

Dei hangs up and heads to her next class.
