"Okay paladins, for today's exercise we will be playing a game to get to know each other better. Each paladin can ask 3 questions and everyone has to answer it truthfully. You will be wearing these bracelets," Allura held up 5 bracelets as she spoke, "that will electrocute you if you lie."
The paladins cringed at the thought of being electrocuted, but they agreed anyways.
"Okay, who wants to go first?" Asked Allura.
We were all sitting in the training room on some chairs and we all looked at each other. I started thinking of some questions in my head when I thought of the perfect one.
"What do you guys think of winged people?" I asked.
Everyone looked at me in confusion.
"You know, like, people with wings, back on earth." They finally realized what I was saying.
"Oh, well, as long as they are a good person, I'm fine with them." Said Shiro.
The others nodded in agreement.
"Why?" Asked Pidge.
"Just curious." I replied, trying to hide the smile on my face.
*time skip*
"Okay paladins, training is finished. Now-" Allura was interrupted by the sound of alarms.
"The planet below us is being attacked!" Coran said over the loudspeaker.
We all rushed to our lions, slapping on our armor.
We all flew outside and started doing our thing.
I started getting dizzy because of everything that was happening.
The bright flashes of lasers all jumbled together and soon, we had won! We didn't even need to form Voltron!
"Great job team, let's go check the planet."
We flew down and were met with the king of the planet.
"Hello paladins, thank you so much for saving us. Would you like to stay for a bit and have something to eat?" He asked as the castle of lions landed behind us.
We all nodded our heads and waited for Allura and Coran to join us.
"First I'll give you a tour of my castle." The king said. I wanted to stay outside and enjoy the view. This was a beautiful planet, with red and pink trees, blue grass, colorful homes of all colors. But I didn't want to be rude so I followed the king in.
"When you first walk in, you'll be met with my beautiful collection of wings."
I froze. Everyone looked at me in confusion. I cleared my throat and asked, "What kind of wings?" My voice came out in a high pitch and everyone looked started to look worried.
"Oh, back on earth there are these humans with wings, well I wouldn't even call them humans, more like monsters."
I bit back my tears and asked, "How do you know if a human has wings or not?" The team looked at me in confusion once again.
"Like this." The king pulled out a scanner and suddenly it started beeping.
The scanner was pointing at me.
"YOU! You monster, someone grab it!"
I hesitated at the word 'it' but then I remembered my situation and started to run.
"COME BACK HERE!" The king screamed.
"Lance!" I heard my team scream behind me.
I took a brave look back to see my team and two guards coming after me.
"Not them as well." I sighed.
I just kept on running, my legs filled with pain but I had to run past it.
"LANCE!" I heard my team scream again.
"LANCE, COME BACK! LOOK AT US" I heard them yell, but I refused to watch my team betray me.
"COME BACK HERE YOU ANIMAL!" I choked back the sobs building up.
My legs hurt like crazy and I heard the feet of everyone dangerously close to me. There was only one thing to do left.
I started to rip off my jacket and took off my shirt, letting it blow away behind me, and took flight.
It felt so good to be up in the air again, the wind in my hair, the shivers that went up my spine, the freedom.
I looked down to see my team with their jaw wide open, and to see the guards preparing some arrows.
Oh no.
The team finally came to their senses and noticed what the guards were about to do.
"STOP!" They screamed in terror.
But the guards didn't listen.
I started to fly away but I knew it wouldn't do any good, I started to go in a zig zag around the sky, keeping a close eye on the guards. I was about to fly out the door but what happened next made me freeze.
"KEITH!" The paladins screamed. I gasped as Keith tackled them and started to punch them.
"We told you to STOP!" He screamed at them. It was my turn to look shocked.
He faced his attention to me again, "Lance! Come back!"
I hesitantly and cautiously flew back, keeping an eye on everyone.
As I flew down, Keith glared at the king, "We'll pass on that dinner invitation, we have better things to do." I stared wide eyed as Keith came back, took my arm, and started walking away. The rest of the paladins also looked very confused, but angry at the king. They followed Keith out the door to the lions.
As soon as we were out, I finally exhaled the breath that I didn't realize I was holding in.
"Th-Thank you, Keith." I said as I realized what had just happened.
"Anything for my sharpshooter."
