"I told my parents everything," I mumbled as Hunter held the ice to my ankle, and used cling wrap to hold it in place. He just nodded, and continued to focus on his task.
"They asked me what I was waiting on."
He stopped. "For what?"
"To give in to your attraction to me," I replied.
"You have smart parents. I think that should do it," he said, standing back up and taking the wrap back to the kitchen.
When he returned he picked me up again and plopped me on the couch, then fell into the cushion next to me.
"When was the last time you sang at church?" he asked, after a few minutes.
"A few weeks ago. Three or four, I think," I replied.
"I'd like to come see you again some time. Tell me when you're going to. I love your voice."
"I'm no powerhouse, Hunter," I laughed.
"So? I still love it. Is that your Bible?" he asked, nodding to the closed book facedown on the coffee table.
"Indeed it is."
He picked it up.
"Let's read. I haven't in too long," he said.
So I sat with Hunter on the couch, and for about 20 minutes, he read scripture to me.
I found it extremely attractive.
Eventually, I stopped listening to him, and just stared out of the sides of my vision at his face, transfixed on the words in front of him. For claiming not to be a dedicated reader, he sure was a good audio tape.
His blue eyes were very, very calm and his arms sat relaxed at his sides as he held the Book in his lap. He kicked off his shoes and laid back into the couch, and I leaned into him.
"My mom has this verse written in her home office," he said. I smiled.
The boy kept reading, his voice ever so inflective and soothing, but very even keel at the same time. Occasionally, he'd add a "wow" or some other commentary, or just nod to himself and smile as he read something convicting.
Then, he closed the book, set it on his knee, folded his hands on top of it, jerked his head towards me and smirked. "You've been staring at me for a while."
"You're nice to look at."
"You are not allowed to say flirty things like that to me if you aren't committing to me. That's not fair."
"I know. I'm not breaking that rule."
He smiled.
