-One week later-
Christy's POV
---------------------------
Alex just shrugged. "I don't mind it at all," he said, nodding to the obnoxious young couple two rows down. They've been giggling/laughing/taking pictures/making out almost the whole movie.
It's a personal pet peeve of mine. I must not be interrupted during a movie.
"I think I'm gonna go down there and tell them what's up," I muttered, half standing up before he pulled me back into my seat.
"And what good would that do? Then you'd be away from me." He put his forehead against mine, then slid his face down to my ear and whispered, his hot breath tickling my cheek.
"And I really don't want you to be away from me." He pulled his face back in front of mine so our noses were practically touching. His eyes were almost slits as he leaned in and I felt our faces pull themselves towards each other. My eyes fluttered shut as the gap between us closed.
But our lips didn't meet. Confused, I looked up to see him giggling, looking at me. My cheeks flushed a deep red.
"Gotcha," he chuckled. He was teasing me!
"You are so mean!"
"You like it though," he winked at me.
"No, I in fact do not," I huffed, faking a pout.
"Aww, is someone a wittle upset?" he made a sad baby face.
"I don't need your sass."
"By the way, I really like your a-"
"Alex!"
"What?! It rhymed!"
"Yeah, well, it was predictable. Pervert."
"Well, I tried."
"Uh huh."
I leaned over and rested my head on his shoulder, him pulling me into his lap. We were now sharing a seat in a movie theatre, but it actually wasn't all that uncomfortable. Before we knew it, the movie was over, and we were headed back to the car.
"Let's head back to my place for a bit. It's still early."
I looked at the digital clock on the dash of his 2010 Silverado. 8:23.
I nodded as he revved the engine on our way out of the parking lot. I played with the radio as he drove, flipping through FM with little satisfaction before remembering that he had XM in his truck. I quickly went to The Highway and began dancing in my seat to "Mama's Broken Heart". Miranda was probably one of my all-time favorites.
"You never cease to get excited every time this one plays," Alex chuckled.
"Well, if '22' came on, I don't think you'd hold back," I raised my eyebrows at him, in reference to his not-so-masculine obsession with Taylor Swift.
His look of defeat was priceless.
I kept jamming in my seat till the song ended, falling into a fit of laughter as Alex just shook his head.
Then "Storm Warning" came on, and I just gazed into the distance in deep thought.
Hunter was taking me to a really nice dinner to thank me in a few days. I hadn't told Alex about it. But I hadn't told anyone about Hunter, anyways. I figured better to keep it that way.
"Christy?" Alex snapped me back to reality as we pulled into his driveway.
"Yeah, uh, sorry. I was just thinking."
"About what?"
"Nothing. It's nothing."
"Tell me, Chris."
"No, it's nothing. Let's go insi-"
"Why can't you tell me?" He turned the engine off and turned to face me in his seat, his tone showing a little bit of irritation.
"It's really nothing, Alex, I was just thinking. Am I not allowed to think?"
"You know, I've felt like you've been keeping something from me recently. And you don't want to tell me what it is. We aren't supposed to have secrets in this relationship. But whatever. Maybe I can just take you home now."
I stared at him, shocked.
"What?"
"What do you mean, 'what'?"
"You want me to leave?"
He sighed. "No, Chris. I don't. But why are you keeping secrets from me?"
"I'm not, really!" I half-lied, but he couldn't know. I felt bad, but I couldn't tell him. "I was just thinking! No secrets, at all."
"Okay, I hope I can believe you." He got out, shutting his door and heading inside.
I felt pretty badly. He felt like he couldn't trust me. Which, to be fair, I was technically keeping something from him, but still.
I came up behind him in the kitchen and wrapped my arms around him.
"I'm sorry, Al. I was just thinking. You know I'd never keep anything from you."
He turned around and pulled me in by the waist, wrapping me up in a warm and protective hug.
"I know, love. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have questioned you."
"It's okay, baby. Wanna go watch some TV? I think there's some basketball on tonight."
He nodded, grabbing the cups of coffee he'd made and handing one to me.
I pecked him on the cheek. "Thanks." He smiled. "Anytime, C."
We sat down, me curled up against his left side, and he flipped to ESPN. Kentucky was playing North Carolina.
We sat there in comfortable silence, me more enjoying being snuggled against him than watching the game. He put his coffee down and wrapped his arms around me. I looked up and locked eyes with him and we began to close the distance between us until we were less than an inch away.
"You're not teasing me again, are you?"
"Not this time," he said in a rather husky voice before closing the gap and crashing his lips into mine.
It didn't take long for the kiss to deepen. Not too long after the makeout session began, he picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist as he carried me towards his room, our lips still locked.
He set me down on his bed. On my back I was as he crawled on top of me. His kisses wandered down to my neck. He traced my collarbone with his lips as he found my sweet spot and I ran my hands through his hair, grabbing it at the ends. I let out a moan and then realized that there would be a mark there.
And I knew where this was going. But I couldn't do it.
"Alex..." I half whispered.
He looked up and our eyes locked.
"I...um....I can't. I'm sorry," I said sympathetically. He nodded and smiled almost apologetically.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have, I knew I shouldn't have, I-"
I cut him off by planting another kiss on his lips. He smiled.
"It's fine, it's not you. But why don't we just go watch a movie?"
He nodded in agreement and we headed back out to the living room. I curled up in his arms as he flipped through Netflix, deciding on the original Despicable Me.
"Just for you," he smiled. He knew this was one of my favorite goof off movies.
Before I knew it, I was fast asleep in his arms.
