A New Clue (Arthit)

OK, I got confused on which story's turn it was today so I'm updating both stories today whether it's your turn or not.  Then tomorrow I'll start alternating again.

I feel helpless as Kong unabashedly cries over his lost friend. I let him hold me and try not to look at the crowd around us. Oak was the weird skinny friend of his. He was so awkward and nervous around me. He was a nice kid though and I'm sad for my husband.

"Did M tell you how he died?" I ask when the sobbing calms down.

I flinch when I get slapped on the back.

"Not now nong. Ask later." P'Dan whispers to me.

"Nong. A minute please." Detective Lapalal calls out.

I slowly slip out of Kong's grasp but I don't get far. He follows along as I walk the ten steps over to the detective.

"Alone nong." He addresses Kong.

"Not gonna happen." He says through sniffles.

"This is for your benefit because it may be hard to hear." He says genuinely.

"I can handle it." He says holding onto me and resting his chin on my shoulder.

"It's probably going to be hard for both of you to hear, but your wound is newer so I apologize if it seems insensitive." He begins.

"Insensitive? You? Nooo." A female voice rings out.

"Prosecutor Pitakard." We greet, well most of us at least.

"Why are you here?" Detective Lapalal asks sounding annoyed.

"Wow. Is that anyway to treat your wife?" She says sassily with her hands on her hips.

"This is your wife?" P'Dan asks.

"No wonder you're such an ass." He says laughing.

"I've just been assigned this case." She explains ignoring P'Dan.

"What were you going to say?" She leads her husband.

"Nothing. It's not important." He says walking away.

"Seriously?!" She yells.

"We don't work well together. You're controlling and try to take over even when it's not your place. I'm not working with you." He says and leaves.

"Oh that man!" She screams as she stomps her foot.

We're all staring at her wondering what her next move is going to be. She smooths out her outfit and looks at P'Dan and me.

"I really just wanted to introduce myself to you and let you know that if you need any help you can ask me. It's just a bonus that I get to tease King." She says with a twinkle in her eye.

"Who's King?" P'Dan and I ask together.

"Detective Lapalal." She says with a giggle.

"His name is King? Did you know that?" I ask P'Dan.

"He's vice, it's amazing I know his last name." He says honestly.

"You can call me Jade, but not in front of my boss or King." She says.

"I'm Dan and this is my partner Arthit." P'Dan starts.

"Ahem." K.O. clears his throat.

"This is K.O. and Kongpob." I add quickly.
