The scientist strapped the little six-year-old to the mysterious table, assuring her that it wasn't going to hurt her badly. He left for a while, saying his 'friends' were going to meet her. She loved meeting new friends so she simply giggled again and nodded her head.

After a certain amount of time, the scientist and his 'friends' enter the room, a tray following the one that seemed to be a nurse. They didn't speak to the child, only began their work. The girl offered a smile to each and everyone and they did smile back, even though it seemed odd.. Vicious...

They set her up with tubes sticking in all along her arms, getting ready to start the experiment. The child was bouncing with excitement.. Until the pain started. It tore through her body like a wolf trying to claw its way through her. She screamed out, thrashing violently against the restraints. Tears leaked out her eyes as the pain continued on.

It was about two hours of pure agony until they stopped the poison that was slipping through the tubes. "She is compatible."

I woke with a start, crying from the ugly memory. That one always seemed to haunt me. I groaned, sitting up. My shoulder was still in pain from yesterday, but I shrugged it off.. Not literally.. I changed into a pair of jeans and a crimson top, keeping my cloak laying on my mattress.

I trudged downstairs, letting my hair hide my face to any passing pack members. To be honest, what I needed right now was to hunt. A nice hunt would make this morning better. I nodded to myself, suddenly bumping into someone. I growled, looking up at the foolish wolf, but was suprised when I saw that it was the Alpha's Son. "Watch where you're going." I whispered harshly, brushing past him with not a thought of mentioning his appearence in the pack house to any one.

I just made it outside when a happy 'hi' made me turn to little Billy-Bob. "Hey little man." I said with a faint smile, crouching down to his level. "What are you doing over here?"

"I came to visit you of course!" The little boy giggled. "I managed to scoot by ma and pa when they were watching TV! Also, who is your friend?"

I frowned, looking over my shoulder to see that he had followed me, his grey eyes watching the exchange even with one eye covered by his ruffled black hair.. I huffed, turning back to the child. "Your parents must be worried sick! What if someone hurt you!? People snatch up little children like you!" I scolded, shaking my head. "Go to your parents before they have a heart attack." He dropped his head sadly, before hurrying off home.

"Who knew the monster had a heart? Does he know what you are? What you've done?" Asked the man behind me. I simply stayed still, watching the blonde disappear back into the pack house.

"I don't have one. I think you're imagining things. He does know about the monster though.. But he doesn't know what I've done and it will stay that way." I said, then started off into the woods again. "What are you doing walking around freely?"

"Your Alpha let me pick from either staying in his pack or execution. I chose the one that might let me help the women and children that were put under my wing." He said, walking beside me now and watched the scenery.

"He is not my alpha!" I snapped at him. "And you won't be able to reach them alone. I can tell. Now. Will you leave me be? I have some hunting to attend to."

I didnt wait for his reply, just shifted and raced into the woods on the hunt for the first scent I came by. I knew he had shifted and followed me, but I didn't look at him. This was my chance to feel free and feast on my own prey, not something picked out for me to kill. What a waste that always was. A terrible waste. I didn't even know what happened to the bodies.

After one and a half hours of catching, killing, and eating, I was finally full. I left some food for the black wolf that followed me around constantly. I found myself following a stream that lead to a pond. I loved the quiet area, letting my wolf lay down and shut it's eyes.

'I've never seen you so relaxed.' The black wolf said, laying down beside me.

'You've never seen me since yesterday. Truthfully, I shouldn't be so relaxed. I should be alert with you around, seeing as I killed most of your pack. But I guess I don't care.' I replied, moving my face away from him. 'Did you know that your dad was the only one to ever harm this form? He was strong. Too bad I had my orders.'

'I couldn't harm you worse than already done to you.' He answered honestly, getting a huff from me. 'Care to give me your name?'

'I don't know. A name is a powerful thing. But who am I to talk?' I chuckled at myself, still not opening my eyes. 'I am Ruby. And you?'

'Jacob.'

'Nice name. To be honest, anything would be better that being named after both a gem and an emotion. Though, I know I'll always keep it that way. It's the only thing keeping me tied to to my parents.' I stood up, shaking out my fur and standing up. 'Times up. Lets go back to the pack house.'
