Too Late Part 22

A/n: It's short I'm sorry I will get more out soon hopefully. Just wanted to give you guys something :(

Luke

It was mean. He knew it mean, but it was such a big opportunity he simply couldn't just pass it up. Luke Taylor strolled into the security trailer just seconds after Gabriel had texted him with the news. He knew Dr. Green would be too busy with Sang to let Mr. Blackbourne know right away.

North's gonna kill me.

He inwardly smirked. They were all too stressed out with everything going on, himself included. Was it the time for jokes? Probably not, but maybe that's what Luke needed to relieve himself a little. When he walked in everyone was huddled around the computer lost in focus. It was perfect timing.

Now or never.

He slide past Axel and North and came over to Mr. Blackbournes side putting his hand at his shoulder but Owen didn't look back.

Come to think of it I've never been able to prank him successfully.

He hoped it would work, but instead of blurting it out loudly like he planned Luke leaned in and whispered oh so quietly into his ear.

"Sang's pregnant"

It was perfect timing really, Mr. Blackbourne had been sipping his water and proceeded to blow it out his nose. Then he tried to turn around to cover it up. Luke never seen him whip around so quick, in fact he felt a quick slap to his left cheek.

"Mr. Taylor! I'm sorry you scared me!" Mr. Blackbourne boomed, moving his hand and gripping towards his chest, coughing up the water.

Was it really an accident though? He couldn't help but wonder.

Nah, Mr. B would never hit me- even if he already knew I was bluffing that was total shock.

Luke grinned cheekily, seeing Mr. Blackbourne so unhinged even for a moment was a rare sight. And seeing Mr. Blackbourne blow water out his nose? Even better.

Maybe I shouldn't be so mean to him. Fun times over.

"I said she's not pregnant" he said it louder this time for everyone to hear.

Mr. Blackbourne released a breath and fell back into the couch with a huff. He grabbed a tissue a wiped his face.

"Oh. I thought you..." He took another breath, calming his heart.

Jeez, we can't be having heart attacks now Mr. B. Maybe I took it too far...

"Fantastic." That's all Mr. Blackbourne could spit out before covering his eyes and cheeks with his hands and taking long deep breaths.

Luke saw Victor squeeze his hand around the mouse of his computer and take a quick breath. North on the other hand remained stone faced and turned towards his brothers.

"You're sure?" Of course North would want confirmation, he knew is pranking brother too well.

Luke nodded, "Yeah, Gabe texted me after Doc gave the news. She's all clear." North gave a curt nod as Luke noticed everyone's tense gazes toward the computers?

"Anything new?" He questioned, he hadn't heard any new news. To his surprise Victor nodded.

"I've got Kota's tracker up online. Even though it's on we still have to reboot the software to track his location."

"Seriously! But shouldn't that have been done in like a minute?" Luke questioned.

Why haven't they told us about it yet? That's kind of big news. We almost have Kota.

Instead Victor moved his eyes back to the screen as Corey furiously typed away.

"We think it's this Volto character doing it. They're a firewall I have to get through but it shouldn't take much longer." Corey chimed, his gaze never wavering.

But then suddenly the world went dark, as every single device, light, and electronic went out in the security trailer.

"A fucking power outage are you kidding me?" North's voice yelled out in frustration.

This really isn't the time for you to blow the fuse box again Uncle. Unless wait... is it Volto?

He didn't realize he had said his name out loud until everyone went quiet.

"Volto couldn't have access to this trailer and everything in it" Mr. Blackbourne demanding voice somehow managed to sound scarier in the dark. They heard a dark mechanical laugh.

"But you see, I do."
