Leo and his brother Raph both padded out of the warehouse trying to find a nice spot for Leo to teach Raph how to hunt his own prey and hopefully Raph won't be so stubborn and cause Leo's buttons to be pushed. Both the two brothers wondered around the city trying to find a spot that's spacey enough for them to have room to run around if they needed to.
"This is worse than last night and you woke me up too early Leo!" Raph complained. Leo sighed trying to hold his patience.
"Trust me Raph, it won't be that hard. It'll be over before you know it." Leo said.
"It better." Raph grumbled.
"I thought you would already know how to hunt since you've had the fox transformation power longer than me." Leo said half to himself.
"That's because I didn't turn into one often, duh." Raph replied.
"Alright then, I was just saying." Leo said ignoring his brother's rudeness. It was a few minutes before Leo lead Raph to the beach the soft white sand tickling his pads while Raph kicked at it wincing as though it were burning him.
"It's cold." Raph mumbled.
"That's how it gets during the night, especially since its summer." Leo replied. "But running around in the sand will help strengthen your legs." he added. Raph snorted at him.
"Oh great nice knowledge Donnie junior." Raph scoffed.
"It's true." Leo replied. He jumped up on a flat boulder and sat down his tail dangling from the side. "Just try running a few laps, you'll see what I'm talking about." he suggested.
"Remind me why I decided to look for you." Raph retorted. The words stabbed Leo in his chest but he just shook his head at Raph trying to stay calm. What a jerk, first he wanted to stay with me just so I wouldn't be lonely anymore but he's just being the same like he was never loyal at all! Leo thought. He watched as Raph dashed away running in a giant circle for a few moments before he toppled over landing on his side.
"Raph!" Leo gasped. He jumped down from his boulder heading toward his brother.
"Don't I'm fine, I've handled worse." Raph grumbled forcing himself up. He shook himself trying to get the sand off his fur. "Ow!" he suddenly yelled. Both the brothers looked behind Raph seeing a little crab waddling sideways making clicking sounds with it's pinchers.
"It's just a crab." Leo said looking back at Raph. Raph growled darkly as he nipped and raked his claws at the crab making the small red creature bury itself in the sand.
"It's gone now." Raph huffed. Leo spotted a small drop of blood and a little red stick looking object next to it.
"You cut it's leg off!" Leo blurted rushing at Raph's side.
"So what? It's no more than just a dumb sand animal." Raph said rolling his eyes.
"Crabs are a type of animal and they have souls like we do, that thing is probably in pain." Leo replied.
"Yeah it reminded me of how weak you were when your leg was broken after Shredder attacked you." Raph scoffed. Leo felt his heart beat stop at his brother's harsh words. He looked back at where the crab had digged and back to his brother. Honestly I feel bad that Raph got pinched by it, but I think he might've killed the crab Leo thought. Both the two foxes had finished training by learning how to hunt and managed to stock a few different kinds of prey on Leo's prey pile that he had. Raph however hadn't completely changed his tone since they left the beach but at least he wasn't being all bad today. Leo stretched himself feeling tired and bored and looked over seeing Raph staring down at a dead mouse that he'd caught during the hunt. He padded over halting next to his brother.
"Still weirded out by eating those kinds of things?" Leo asked.
"Heh. What makes you say that?" Raph replied rather rudely. Leo's ears went flat against his head before he shouldered Raph hard knocking him down as he landed on his side.
"Look I don't know what your deal is but whatever it is, I don't like this attitude Raph!" Leo yelled. Raph forced himself up glaring at him.
"Shut up, you don't know what I'm going through and no there's nothing you can do or say that'll fix it." Raph growled.
"What did I ever do to you?! All my life I've been trying to be a good brother and you've just been lashing, bullying and teasing me no matter what I do!" Leo yelled feeling anger surge through him.
"Look who's talking! I'm not the one who left their throwing star behind on Snake's van and was still leader after that! If you hadn't left that thing behind Shredder would've never found out about Splinter being alive, and maybe Splinter would still be here right now!" Raph snapped.
"Hey! You were the one who kept saying 'it's just a small story' When you were the one who was being stupid by being the overconfident one!" Leo shouted getting louder.
"So you're denying it, what a shame, no wonder Shredder wanted you to be on his side, you should've stayed in the Footclan where you belong." Raph replied.
"Well I should've never broke you free of his brainwashing jerkface!" Leo retorted. Raph's eyes widened a little as Leo paced past him and flopped on the mattress his heart feeling like it cracked from what they said to each other. Leo's ears pricked at the sound of Raph padding toward him but he nipped at Raph making his brother stumble backwards.
"No! Not another word I'm done hearing it!" Leo growled. He lied his head on his paws a tear rolling down his face. He wiped his paw over it getting rid of the tickling feeling.
"Leo I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean that." Raph said his voice breaking. Leo only moved around trying to get comfortable.
"Just leave me alone." Leo mumbled to him. A few hours have passed and Leo sat on top of a rooftop from finding himself up the fire escape at the side of the building while the wind howled on his fur and the sun was nearly setting past the tallest skyscrapers making an orange glare in the sky. Leo sensed someone behind him and spranged up turning around immediately growling as his hackles rose until he realized that it was Raph.
"You really do have a stronger sense than I do." Raph sniggered with amusement. Leo's eyes were into slits as anger washed over him.
"What do you want?" Leo questioned still mad at him.
"I'm sorry about what I said earlier." Raph replied. Leo wrinkled his nose at him glaring.
"It's fine, just don't push my buttons like that again." Leo said still half angry at him. He turned around to go back to thinking until he felt a paw poke him a little.
"You're it!" Raph laughed. Leo turned around seeing his brother fallack around in a circle before he flopped on his side weirdly the sight making Leo snigger a little.
"Well I won't be it for long." Leo said doing a play bow. Raph spranged on his paws his tail swishing.
"But I'm faster than you." Raph joked. Then he dashed off.
"Get back here!" Leo called laughing. He gave chase to Raph both of them playing on the rooftops the rest of the day both being hyper like pups.
