London in 1886 is an amazing place if you're rich. If you live in the slums, then you know the real truth behind its beauty. A woman no more than age 24 sits in a back alley, watching the people who are lucky enough to have money. She sits and glares, not bothering to beg or plead for food. She doesn't want anything from them. The woman watches the kids do what she didn't want to; it makes her stomach turn. Not only was her hunger hurting her, but the sight of what people ignored was as well. She wanted to change this life, but so far, that would mean becoming a local wench. Thoughts were clouding her mind when a small voice called out to her.
"Claire!"
She quickly made her mind quiet and turned to the person behind her. She smiled and picked her up.
"What's up Lizzy? Find something interesting?"
Lizzy nodded her head and showed her older sister the wallet in her hand.
"I found this! It has a lot of paper in it."
Claire's eyes widen before quickly taking the wallet from her. The younger sister let out a small complaint, but she ignored it. She then open it up, looking at the ID. Claire couldn't help but find the owner attractive, but his age seemed to be missing in the ID. It was weird, but she ignored that as well and started to count the money.
"160 Pounds..."
She grinned ear-to-ear as she whispered the amount. Maybe she could buy a small home and set up a shelter for the others? Then her stomach let out a rumble, soon followed by her sister. They needed food, but that would still be hard to get. Technically they did steal this money and would be arrested. They would only be able to spend a few amounts at a time. She picked up her sister and held onto the wallet. Their dresses were torn and tattered. They would need new ones soon for winter.
"This money could do some many things for us, Lizzy! For now, let's get some bread."
She held onto her sister as they started to walk through the street. People were glaring and all she did was glare back. The higher class were known as cruel pigs. She would never become like them if she had that money. Just then, she stood in place and started to panic. There she saw the man from the wallet, looking a bit frantic. She sighed and walked over to him, handing over the wallet. "Sir, my sister found this. I'm guessing it's yours."
The man looked at them with strange eyes and nodded, taking the wallet from her hands. Claire and Lizzy were staring at this beautiful-looking stranger. His eyes were so blue they looked like jewels.
Just then the man spoke up. "You hair and eyes are beautiful miss."
Claire looked over at Lizzy and chuckled a bit, thinking the compliment was for her sister.
"Red-haired miss, I would like for you and your little miss here to stay with me. I believe you two could become very beautiful ladies."
Lizzy seemed very excited, almost wanting to jump into the man's arms. But Claire just glared at him. Strangers couldn't be trusted, but it could mean Lizzy having a better future. Soon she cleared her throat and let out a small nod. "We'd be happy to, sir."
The man smiled and picked up the small girl from Claire's arms.
"I'll carry the young one for you. What's your name miss? I'm Valnic Morrison."
The younger of the siblings spoke up with her quiet voice.
"I'm Lizzy and that's Claire. She's my big sister!"
Claire then nodded her head, adding onto her small sister's statement.
"We have no clue to our last name. We had different mothers, but our father is the same. I remember that man's ring when he left me."
She then paused and looked over at Lizzy.
"It was the same when Lizzy came, his ring was that same damn gold color."
Valnic then as they walked. There was nothing, but the sound of cold feet hitting the ground as they walked to where the man lived.
