~Y/N's POV.~
(Okay someone asked me, and this book isn't gender specific ((I did interpret Connor as Gay or Bi when I was writing this)) but the reader can be a boy, girl, and anything in between) this is bad I'll fix it later...Based on AnxietyOnBroadway 's idea. and Biggs5330a
I looked up at the tall trees wondering how old they were, how did they manage to get in this exact park? Connor's hand was laced with mine, he held tightly like if he let go I would die or something.
"What are you thinking about?" He asked, looking at me. I sighed.
"I don't know. I'm just thinking of trees." I laughed a bit.
"Wow, you are a Hansen." He joked, I slapped his shoulder lightly. We heard a low grumbling noise come from above us. One I knew all too well. Thunder. I felt the drops on my head, a few light ones, and then it started to pour more and more.
"We should go, Connor." The sky crackled above us. "Now." He put his hood up an ran over to 'Larry Luxury's' Blue Volvo. A few weeks ago Connor crashed his truck, Larry freaked out saying this is why we can't have nice things in this household.
Connor opened the door for me and I hopped in.
—————
Connor growled in frustration. "Route nine is closed. big oak tree fell apparently. We can't get home." I sighed. My eyes danced over to a big neon sign.
'7/11'
"Wait, pull over, we can stay in the gas station until the storm clears!" I pointed to the small store.
"We can just take the backroads, Y/N." I kissed his knuckles.
"It's fine. I want a hotdog anyway." He rolled his eyes and laughed. He pulled into the gas station that looked almost completely abandoned. My phone buzzed.
Mommy 😊: Y/N are you okay? I saw what was going on outside. It's crazy, the weatherman says. I just need you to text me okay? I love you. Btw, your aunt Jenna's coming into town with her new baby! I'll try to take off work, it'll be fun! How's that sound?——
Évãñ: I can't get into the house. You have the key. Y/N I'm freaking oat
Évãñ: out***——
Alana 👯♀️: OH MY FRICK. THIS IS CRAZY, HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEWS?——
I smiled at all the texts.
"Y/N!" Connor called out to me. "It's open." He pushed open the door. No one inside it looked like.
Connor grabbed my hand reassuringly. Both of our heads snapped to the counter when we heard the 'dingy-bell-thing' ring. (You know what I'm talking about.). There was a girl, around our age smoking a cigarette. She wore a blue coat, and a short skirt.
"Do you work here?" I asked timidly. She bit her lip and laughed.
"Thank god, no. I'm just a... frequent customer. Gotta get my daily big gulp," she played with her dark curls. She resembled some girl that went to my school all too much. From the way she stood, to her smirk, she seemed familiar. "Veronica, by the way. You live around here?" Veronica asked.
"A few Minutes away. We were just at the park, but it started raining." I answered. Veronica nodded, checking out the clearing storm.
"You go to that highschool right? My sister goes there. She's a senior, Janis. She's a bitch but whatever." Veronica laughs. Janis. Right. (Don't COME FOR JANIS IAN VERONICA)
"She's in my calculus. Yea, I'm getting ready for college." She nods. A boy comes out from the back of the store, holding a blue slushee, his tongue and lips match the slushee. His trench coat is stained by ashes, probably from cigarette buds. He gives Veronica a 'Who are they?' Look.
"This is-"
"I'm Y/N and this Connor." I finish. Connor still hasn't said a word. Finally he speaks, clearing his throat.
"We should get going, Y/N. The storm cleared."
"—Leaving so soon? We just met." The boy smirks. Walking closer.
"Come on, Y/N." Connor walks me out of the store. I hear the door bell ring behind us.
——————
"What was that about! They were being nice to us!" I scolded Connor.
"No, they were being creepy." He says as we pull into his driveway. "Plus, you look like your about to die. You feeling good?" He asks.
"Just a bit tired." I yawned.
"Then, c'mon let's go lay down." He grabbed my Hand, and reached for the car door, but stoped when I said,
"I can't, I have stuff to do, like college applications and shit." I took my hand away. His face fell. "Connor, you have thought about college, right?" He looked away.
"Not entirely. I just was focusing on other things." He sighed. "I mean... what happens when we both go to college." He furrowed his brows.
"Nothing." I laughed. "Why would something happen?"
"We're gonna be apart." He said quietly.
"And?"
"I'm afraid it won't work out! Okay!?" He snapped. I turned to him, shaking my head.
"Connor I love you. A lot. It's going to be okay. Hunter accepted me and that's not far, just in Manhattan. We're in New Jersey, it's like and hour away." I brushed the hair covering his eyes.
"I love you too." He sniffed, and kissed me lightly. I kissed back more passionately. He wrapped his arms around me. He kissed more and more until——
"NOT IN MY CAR." Larry banged on the front of the car making me and Connor instantly pull away.
"Sorry mr. Murphy!" I waved at him.
"Yea..." he scoffed, walking away. Me and Connor looked at each other and laughed, harder than ever before.
