Chapter 5: Be Careful What You Wish For

12:05 PM *2 Minutes After Taylor's Death*

*BANG BANG*

Vanessa's POV

Vanessa: GASP.

I woke up to the sound of gunshots. I was frozen still. My body had chills running down my spine. Someone had just gotten murdered. Little did I know that it wasn't a stranger. I get up to run to Jason's Room.

Vanessa:JASON DID YOU HEAR THAT?!

Jason: Yeah, what was that?

Vanessa: I think someone just got killed...

6:45 AM Hawthorne HouseHold

Vanessa: JASON WAKE UP, TIME FOR SCHOOL!

Jason: COMING!!

Jason and I get ready for school and dash downstairs, where once again our parents are looking at us. But not with anger...with sadness

Vanessa: Mom? Dad? What's wrong?

Mom: I'm so sorry sweetheart

Vanessa: What are you talking about

She points at the TV with tears in her eyes.

News Anchor: We have breaking news to report today. Last night, tragedy struck Hawthorne Hill when 18 year old Taylor Davis was murdered in her home.

Vanessa: M-murdered?

My stomach was twisted in knots. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This had to be a prank, Taylor wasn't dead. She was alive and well. But I knew that wasn't true. The next thing I knew I was on the floor crying and screaming. I was heartbroken, my girlfriend was murdered.

Dad: If you don't want to go to school today we understand.

Vanessa: No! I'm going. I need to.

Dad: Ok, well if you want to leave early it's ok.

Vanessa: I said I'm fine Dad.

Jason and I walk out of the house to walk to school.

Jason: V, im so sorry. I know how much she meant to you.

Vanessa: Sh-she's really gone. I say as i try to keep my tears in.

Jason: Don't worry, everything will be o-

Vanessa: DON'T YOU DARE FINISH THAT SENTENCE. How can you say that. Taylor is DEAD, DEAD! And you say everything is going to be ok? HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE JASE!?

Jason: I-I

I sigh

Vanessa: I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you.

Jason: It's fine, you're upset. It's normal.

We continue to walk until we get at school. As soon as I open the door. Everyone was staring at me. Like I was some convict. I guess everyone else heard the news. Then I saw Josh, looking at me then looking at everyone else.

Josh: HEY! WHAT THE HELL Y'ALL LOOKING AT?! NOTHING TO SEE HERE!

Vanessa: Thanks Josh

Josh: Hey, its no problem...how you holding up.

Vanessa: I honestly don't know how to feel. I mean yes I'm upset, but all the things I said to her. I could never take those words back.

Josh: Im really sorry V.

I trying to force a smile. Me Jason and Josh walk in the hallway where we find, Megan, Mateo, Alyssa and Stephen all looking at us. Kayla runs at me and gives me the biggest hug and cries.
