Chapter 8: Unexpected

Vanessa's POV

Oh. my. God. Josh killed Taylor. I was trying to hold in my tears. I cusped my hand over my mouth. I couldn't believe this. I had to be wrong... right?
Maybe the jacket got stuck on the door when he left the party. Or maybe he just cut it on purpose. I knew neither of those weren't true. Josh was the murderer all along. I should've known... but why? Why kill her? I guess there was one way to find out.

I decided to call Mateo to tell him what I found first since he was in love with Josh...he deserved to know.

*Calling Mateo...*

Vanessa: Come on, pick up!

Mateo: Hello?

Vanessa: MATEO! Thank God! Are you ok?

Mateo: I'm fine why do you ask?

Vanessa: Where are you now??

Mateo: With Josh, I'm at his house. Why are you asking me this?

Vanessa: Mateo...listen to me very carefully. You need to leave right now.

Mateo: V...your scaring me.

Vanessa: Mateo I'm sorry, i'll tell you everything later just LEAVE NOW! Meet me at Taylor's House.

Mateo: Ok.

*Call Ended*

Mateo's POV

Mateo: Um, you know Josh. I'm really tired so I'm just gonna go home ok?

Josh: What? Why you just got here.

Mateo: I'm sorry, I really am but I just really need to rest. And besides I have a huge Pre-Calc test i need to study for.

Josh: Oh...ok well I'll see you-

Mateo: Yeah, ok bye!

Josh: Bye?

I dashed out of Josh's house and get into my car. What did Vanessa want to tell me? I had a feeling that it wasn't going to be good.

15 Minutes Later ( Taylor's House)

Mateo: Vanessa!! What the hell is going on??

Vanessa: Mateo... look

She shows me this light blue cloth. I immediately knew whose that was.

Mateo: That's Josh missing piece from his jacket!!

Vanessa: Exactly...and it was hidden underneath the welcome mat inside.

Mateo: Wait, you don't think-

Vanessa: Yes I do... Josh killed Taylor.

Mateo: N-no, he wouldn't do that. He loved her!

Vanessa: THEN WHY WAS THIS HIDDEN?!

Mateo: Aw, come on V! You don't really believe that? There must be a reasonable explanation. Maybe he just got the jacket stuck on something like he said.

Vanessa: I know you don't believe that..

Mateo: Look, Josh didn't kill Taylor. He wouldn't do that

Vanessa: Mateo, this proves that he did. Whether you believe it or not. I don't think its a good idea for you to talk to him. Its too dangerous.

Tears fell down my cheeks. I knew Vanessa was right. Josh did kill her. But I just wanted to know why. Why kill her? She may have been a bad person but she didn't deserve to die. No one does.

Mateo: I guess you're right.

Vanessa: I'm really sorry Mateo...

Mateo: Don't worry, ill be alright.

Vanessa gives me a hug and we go our separate ways.

Vanessa's POV 8:56 PM

After that confrontation with Mateo, I went home. Jason and my parents were gone so i had the place all to myself. After I settled in I called 911. I had finally figured out who killed Taylor. Soon this would all be over.

I dialed 911 on my house phone

Operator: 911, what's you're emer-

Then...the phone went dead silent.

Vanessa: Hello, he-hello?

I suck my teeth, the phone must've died. I tried calling on my phone but i realize that i had no service.

Vanessa: What the hell?

*KNOCK KNOCK*

Vanessa: COMING!!

I open the door and I gasp in fear

Josh: Hello Vanessa, can I come in?
