"This is what she had become."

Cleopatra Banks' last week in the small town of New Chelsea is nothing like she would have imagined it, but nothing could have prepared her for the stinging betrayal she's faced with and suddenly the prospect of...

Cleopatra
There's commotion in the background.
"You'll never get her in bed man," a boy comments, followed by laughs from other boys.
Max tsks.
"I will, just you watch. We're already in the same Chemistry class," he replies, uncertainty underlying his voice.
I hear desks screeching against the floor. "Keep dreaming boy," Nigel's gruff voice booms. The commotion dies.
"Well would you look at that if it isn't her feeder, you're disgusting you know that Parker? You think keeping her ass fat will keep the rest of us from having some of that..." Max doesn't finish the sentence.
I hear the sound of desks and chairs banging against each other.
"Stop it, coach will be here in a sec," a voice I don't quite recognize reprimands and surely the desk and chair banging stops.
"Shut up," Nigel speaks out again, clearly angry.
Max chuckles humorlessly. "Why? You can't have two girls dancing in your lap Parker, learn to share a little huh?" his voice is taunting.
"Alright, let's just settle this the way we normally settle girl business alright?" someone asks and I hear hollering in the background.
"Cleo and I are official, we're not settling anything," Nigel informs everyone in a very confident voice.
Max laughs and is joined by a few other boys. "You're an idiot Parker, we all know you're still with that bat shit crazy girlfriend of yours," he comments.
There's more commotion as the voices get louder and Nigel's and Max's get angrier.
"You know what, let's just do what we always do. Soccer season is coming up soon and I don't want you two head butting over some girl," a voice I recognize as Ben's, the captain of the under 18 soccer team, calls out.
"It's a bet then, you have until the end of next month before we play our first match, get the frustration out boys," Ben declares and a series of clapping ensues.
"May the best man win!" he finishes off.

"...let's just settle this the way we normally settle girl business..."
Tears sting my eyes.
I force my sticky eyelids open and silently let them gush out as I stare at the roof of the car. It's eerily quiet in here save for the sounds of the upbeat gospel song that's softly playing in the background.
