Natasha's eyes have been glued on me since that fateful day at the boutique and I swear I see her at every corner just...watching me. And even when I can't see her I know she's looking, scrutinizing, judging me along with the rest of them.
They've even started to accuse me of plotting with Buttercup in order to have prom cancelled because I haven't made them suffer enough. Natasha's probably thinking the same thing too.
If they feel the need to address the seventy percent average issue they need to take it up with Thandi who's supposed to be representing all of us but all she ever does is boss Valeria around and I'm also certain she has her hands full because word on the street is that she's been shortlisted for the Ms. Victoria Springs Teen pageant so her giving a crap about anyone in this school at this point in time would be a miracle.
I've never been so proud of myself for tearing up a bunch of papers. I'd rather watch paint dry than voluntarily spend my time anywhere near Thandi outside of school.
But at least there's someone who's judgement of me has been put aside for the time being and I'm actually surprised to admit that April is great company despite his overly cocky statements and I'm happy to see that the grape juice box has been making more of an appearance lately.
I slide into the seat at the back of the music room behind the piano and take out my own copy of The Billionaire Alpha's Assistant and patiently wait for April to show up like I've been doing the whole week.
I couldn't read the whole book in one sitting like I had originally planned which makes me wonder how Lexi devours trilogies in just a matter of days.
The story has taken a weird turn. Rayne has just discovered that Axel is a werewolf, which is why he had to cancel plans for Rayne's birthday (her birthday was on a full moon) but Axel's younger brother Damien (who's not a werewolf because Axel was adopted) managed to save the day and they shared a really intense scene and Damien confessed his love to her -which honestly wasn't a surprise at all-and now she can't decide if she's in love with Damien or Axel.
Pfft.
I know she'll pick Damien.
Unlike Axel, he's faithful, patient, has a great heart, actually makes time for her and doesn't objectify her the way Axel does. Axel also has to look for a Luna because obviously Rayne isn't a werewolf so that pretty much seals the deal.
I'm at the beginning of a new chapter when I hear footsteps making their way towards the piano.
"Oh, great you're here. You have to sing out this part where Damien tells Rayne how much he loves her and what he's willing to do for her love it--"
"What the hell is going on between you and April?"
I roll my eyes and take in a huge calming breath, figuring this was a long time coming and place the book aside.
