Muschietta's POV
After I heard from the neighbor that the battle between the boys and the soldiers has ended, I ran to the Musain. My heart was beating. My face was covered in sweat. I was still in my sleepwear when I saw the women washing the blood off the pavement. I met eyes with Grantaire's sister, and she shook her head. I went inside the cafe to see the boys lined up.

I saw as the soldiers placed Jehan down next to Abella. I heard from the neighbor that he was taken as hostage. As soon as I saw my two boys laying on the ground, lifeless, tears began to come out of my eyes. I rubbed my eyes as hard as I could to stop crying. Then I turned over to Abella. She was half smiling, and she seemed like she was happy in heaven. In the pocket of her shirt, a red rose peeked out. Abella and Jehan's soulless fingers intertwined, and I was sure that they were smiling up there.
