Back again!
Feeling sorta out of it this week so idk how long this chapter will be. I'm sorry
It occurred to you that Zack was right. How hadn't anyone thought of that beforehand?
Brendon and you suddenly felt like dimwits in Zack's presence.
"Yeah, that's what I was thinking," Brendon said coolly, covering up that it had never once crossed his mind.
"Uhuh," you deadpanned to Brendon. "And Zack, how are we going to go about hiring someone on such short notice?"
"We'll figure it out." He sighed, pulling up to the driveway. "First, I think you deserve some rest. Go and relax. I think you may also want to put something cold on that cheek."
You smiled at how considerate he was. "Thanks, Zack." It took you a moment to get out of the car. You lingered, wondering if there was anything else you could say. Anything else you could do before you disappeared into the house.
Nothing came to you, though. You wish you had a solution, or something in mind, to hire someone so quickly.
All you could do was go and rest like Zack had wanted.
However, as you walked inside—Brendon and Zack following far behind—you couldn't help but overhear their conversation, slowing a bit until it became clearly audible.
"How will this work out?" Brendon asked. "Finding a bodyguard as quickly as possible while still making sure they meet all of the requirements and are the best possible candidate?"
Zack sighed. "Too be honest," you could hear the frustration in his voice. "I'm not sure. We need to find her quick. But even if we find one, she still would have to do more training as soon as she's hired by state law. I know how stressful that is."
"I know. But [y/n] and I don't have to go out that much, so she could go train while you stay with us in the house." You smiled as you heard the compassionate undertones in his tone as he spoke. "I don't want to stress her out much or exhaust her by making her stay with us for almost a whole day and have her still somehow find time to train."
Halfway up the stairs, now inside, there was a last sentence spoken.
"I think I can figure something out. I'll help you find a bodyguard and get everything started."
You could very well rely on them, you concluded. You could very well feel safe. But you weren't sure about your bodyguard. After all, you hadn't met her yet.
But you trusted Zack and Brendon to make the right decision, and that was all that mattered.
It didn't take long for Brendon and Zack to place out a job offer and do research, trying their best to recruit the best candidate.
"She needs to be kind," Brendon stated.
Zack nodded in approval. "She needs to not be too flashy. If she looks like a bodyguard she'll attract more attention than necessary."
"True, true. . ." Brendon scanned his eyes over every possible option for the job, then tilted them so you had a better view. "What do you think of her?"
"Hmmm," you thought. "Maybe a little too mean looking. She looks real stiff. I'm willing to give her a try, though; can't judge a book by its cover."
It seemed like centuries passed of Brendon flashing applications and descriptions of badass women and you stating your opinion. It was becoming overwhelming. You couldn't quite pick out one you particularly liked because of the quick pace. It wasn't long before Zack left, too, taking a break from the chaos.
"Brendon!" You threw your arms up into the air. "If we're going to get anything accomplished we should see these girls face to face."
Putting the papers down, he leaned against his desk. "You're right. I just want to find someone as quick as possible. I don't want another incident." He put his arm around your shoulders and squeezed you to him tightly.
"I know." You smiled warmly at him. "But if we want to find someone perfect, it needs time."
He nodded knowingly, and you grabbed the papers again, trying to get them out of the way.
"Now, what are you looking for in a bodyguard?" Brendon asked.
You thought for a moment. "Someone who is just a really great person but can kick some butt at the same time."
"Well then I have just the person for you," Zack's voice suddenly cut in, back from wherever he went.
A female with dark hair and the most beautiful amber eyes stepped in, her muscular yet slim body holding her with pride. She sported a lopsided smile and extended her arm, holding her hand out. "Nice to meet you. The name's Louise Scott."
Sorry it's short but I hope you enjoyed!
Louise is gonna be quite fun.
