Hey guys! So for the last chapter, it's just gonna be the usual, 'Vern gets married out of high school and Teddy tries to join the army' kind of thing, but there's gonna be a sliiiight change. Instead of Chris dying, I'm going to write two different scenarios where he dies and he lives. I just couldn't bare to just write Chris' death, so I decided to give him a happy ending for once. I hope everyone liked my story and here's the last chapter :''''(
~
As Max had suspected, since the day they came home from searching for Ray Brower's body, it was never the same again. For the first year of high school, the five did stay somewhat close, but it didn't last very long after then. As time went on, they saw less and less of Teddy and Vern. Until eventually, they because two more faces in the halls.
Vern had gotten married out of high school, had four kids, and is now the forklift operator at the arsenal lumber yard. Even though most people picked on Vern, Max never did. She had thought Vern was one of the kindest, sweetest, and most innocent people she had ever met. It was truly sad to watch Vern leave her life so quickly, but she was happy for him. She would never forget his chubby smile, his quirky yet worrisome personality, and his huge, caring heart.
Teddy had tried several times to get in the army, but his eyes and ear kept him out. The last she had heard was that he had spent some time in jail, and was now doing odd jobs around Castle Rock. Even though Max had thought Teddy could be sometimes hard to tolerate, it was all worth it in the end. Behind his tough, no soul personality, he really did care about the people he loved, and would do anything to keep them safe. She was also very sad to watch Teddy leave her life, He always knew how to make her laugh and made their friendship more exciting every day. She would never forget his memorable laugh, his 'war reenacting' skills, and his ambitious stride towards life.
Chris, Gordie, and Max stayed close all throughout high school. But until college, Gordie went on his own path towards success. All throughout school, Gordie did exceptionally well. He continued with his writing, and got a scholarship to a college that specializes in writing. And not very long after that, he became a well known author. In college, he met his wife and now have a wonderful son. Other than Chris, Max was the closest to Gordie. They not only had similar lives, but he was the one that introduced her to everyone. She truly thought Gordie was an incredible human. He cared so much about her and was always there for emotional support when her and Chris weren't getting along. Max was extremely happy when she found out he had become an author, she knew he had it in him and even though many people doubted him, he proved them wrong and turned out successful. She would never forget his creative stories, his gentle appearance, and his intelligent mind.
(This is the story when Chris dies, and because it's so much longer, I'll be putting paragraphs)
Now as for Chris, he did get out of Castle Rock. He enrolled in the college courses with Gordie and Max. And although it was hard, he gutted it out, like he always did. He went on to college, and eventually became a lawyer.
All throughout high school and college, Chris and Max stayed a couple. Yes, they had their hard times with each other, but they always came back to each other in the end. By the end of college, Chris had asked Max to marry him. And even though they didn't have much money, their small reception was beautiful. At the time, they could only afford a small apartment in New York, but they made the best out of it. Soon after their marriage, They found out that they were expecting a child in late September.
One day, Chris had entered a fast food restaurant. Just ahead of him, two men got into an argument. One of them pulled a knife. Chris, who would always make the best peace, had tired to break it up. He was stabbed in the throat, he died almost instantly. Max had gotten a phone call about the news from the police minutes after, and she collapsed to the floor, sobbing.
She became a mess. She wouldn't leave her house, she wouldn't eat, sleep, nothing. She almost didn't go to his funeral, but she had to say one last goodbye. Unexpectedly, Gordie, Teddy, and Vern were also at his funeral. They had found out a week before, and had to come. The four of them reunited, and sobbed onto each other uncontrollably the entire time. They were the last four at his funeral after everyone went home, and personally said their goodbyes. The three didn't stay very long after, and all eventually went home.
A short month later, Max and Chris' child was conceived. She had a beautiful, baby boy. The first thing that Max noticed, was that the baby had captivating bright blue eyes, much like his father. So she decided, that she'd name her baby, Christopher Michael Chambers. Max knew that it was going to be hard raising a baby on her own, but she had to pull through, like Chris always would.
(Now this is the story where Chris lives, the writing will all be the same except for the part where he dies)
One day, Chris was coming home late from work. Like always, Max would stay up and wait for Chris to come home. She had the news on the T.V., and it was announced that a fight occurred in a near fast food restaurant, and a young man that tried to break it up was stabbed and killed.
Immediately, Max thought of Chris. She had thought maybe he stopped to pick up some food on the way home. Tears started to well in her eyes, until she heard the door unlock, and there was her husband, alive and well. Max told him what she had thought had happened, and he told her not to worry, because he wasn't going anywhere.
A month went by, and their beautiful baby boy was born. Chris was so unbelievably excited that he had a son, and couldn't wait to raise it the way he wished he was. They both noticed their son's exquisite blue eyes, and thought it had been since they both had blue eyes. In the end, they named their boy, Michael Gordon Chambers. Chris insisted that they named his middle name after Gordie, because he had such an impact on their lives, and he wanted to reach out to him again.
(Now this is just what Max thought about Chris, like I did for the other three)
Max truly loved Chris. He was her first everything. Her first real crush, her first kiss, her first real boyfriend, and her first (and hopefully last) husband. Whenever Chris was around, her day felt happier and her mood would completely change, even if she was having a terrible day. He was her rock, and she didn't know what she'd do without him. In all honesty, she didn't think their relationship would last. They were only teenagers at the time they got together, and things like those don't usually last. But boy, was she wrong. Max learned that Chris was the one for her once they graduated high school, she knew that he never wanted and never would leave her side for as long as they shall live. And he never did end up like his father and brother obviously, he got to prove everyone that told him he would wrong. Max did, and still does care and love Chris dearly. She will never forget his determination, his protective nature, and she will never, ever forget the day she fell in love with such an amazing human being.
