Beca's POV
"Beca I-,"
"Just get out!" I spoke those words through gritted teeth but she didn't seem to listen. When she didn't move I yelled at her. "Just get out!" My outburst must've called my heart rate to spike because doctors soon came in and asked me what was wrong. I pointed to Chloe and they forced her to leave. The last thing I heard was a broken-hearted apology from a broken-hearted girl.
"I'm sorry." When I was finally alone with nothing but my own tears I let more than enough of them out, I couldn't cry often.I cried for a while but eventually, they stopped falling but I was still alone. I tried to sleep and my body must've liked that idea because I soon drifted off. As I dreamt the beeping didn't leave, I could still hear it beside me. It was like I was awake with my eyes closed but the only thing I could hear other than the beeping was someone crying. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't open my eyes to find out who it was. I stayed like this for what was probably a couple hours and then I seemed to wake up again. When I opened my eyes I found my dad watching me from a chair in the room. Sheila was there too and she noticed my eyes open first. He seemed to be watching me but not really seeing me. His eyes were glazed over.
"Dad?" His face displayed confusion as he didn't really seem to think it was really me that had said it. Sheila did though.
"Hey Beca, honey how are you feeling?" She rushed over to my side and gave me a sad smile.
"Alright, thanks." After she moved and I spoke again my dad finally realised I was awake and followed her over to my side.
"I'm sorry Beca." Sheila seemed to know that this wasn't her place as she got up and left the room. I was thankful she did but also didn't want to be alone with him.
"It's okay dad. I'm okay."
"Please don't play this game with me, I know you're not okay."
"I just had a little too much to drink is all."
"Beca that's an understatement."
"Dad I promise I'm okay." He leant back, away from me, he kinda looked like he'd given up on me.
"Okay." There was a long silence between us as he tried to think of something to say to me. He may have been my father by blood but he'd know me. "I think some of your other friends want to see you, do you want me to send them in?"
"Sure." He didn't hug me or anything he just got up from the seat and made his way toward the door. Once he got there he pulled it open and gave me a smile as he walked away. The kind of smile you give an old person you see while walking down the street, to show them you're one of the good ones.As he said would happen my friends soon filed in. I didn't really know who he was referring to until I saw Fat Amy leading in the Bellas. Chloe was the last one in. I didn't know what they were going to do or what was going to happen but Fat Amy ran straight up to me and engulfed me in a hug, the others followed suit. I tried to protest but soon realised that they weren't going to let go of me anytime soon. After a painfully long time, they finally did let go and I was so glad it over. One by one they found a seat or stayed standing until only Amy was left, with her arms still wrapped around me. No one spoke until she had sat down as well, she chose to sit on my bed. Chloe was on the chair furthest away from me, Aubrey was next to her, then Jessica, Ashley and Lilly. Everyone else was standing around my bed, some had given Chloe odd looks as she wasn't at my bedside, they didn't know of me yelling at her earlier. Amy was also the first to speak.
"I'm glad you're okay short stack, we all our." I gave her a small smile in return and a little,
"Thanks." No one really knew what to say to me and I kind of hated that fact, I knew I'd have to break the silence so everyone would stop avoiding eye contact with me. "Do any of you guys wanna go skating when I get out of here?" As soon as I'd made a sound everyone immediately looked at me. There were a few murmurs of agreement and a couple of disagreement but I could only pick out Aubrey's response and it actually made me chuckle a little.
"Why would anyone go on those death traps? They're out of fashion, for teenagers and troubled youths." She didn't seem to be speaking to anyone in particular and apparently I was the only one who heard when I just got a load of confused looks.
"It was what Aubrey said." Everyone turned to her as I was still laughing and I ended up laughing, even more, when she went beet red.
"It was nothing." Was the only response she chose to give them.
