3 - A Weird First Encounter

Today is Thursday, and tomorrow is the last day of our college week. I can say that I enjoyed the past two days of our activity. I guess my decision in playing in this year's team really helped alot. We won all two of our games, and later today we still have one more game before the championships. If we win later, we will advance for the championships and we will have the advantage of being, what we call "twice to beat". If we lose, we still have to play tomorrow morning to know if we can compete at the championships during the afternoon. That's my team wants to win later today, so we can rest the whole night and have our full focus and strength for the championships. And, yes, we do take this very seriously.

We are here at the school cafeteria, just chilling with our team mates. We are talking about the game that will happen later, about how hard the game is going to be. I was just laughing and listening to them not really talking much. I turned to look at the cafeteria door when I heard it open. It's them again. It's HIM again.

I don't know why, or how, but this week I've seen him like everywhere I go. I'm not saying that he's following me but, what are the odds of us being in the same place every single time? I probably seen him many more times this week than the times I seen him in the past years. We are in the same university but why just now that I see him everywhere, literally.

I think he noticed me looking at them when he turned at looked at me as well. I did not remove my eyes on him and just stared confusingly, asking in my head 'how do we always end up in the same place everytime?'. I think he noticed my confused face because he smirked at me and looked away. I was shocked by his response, that was the first time we ever had a conversation. Is then even a conversation? My god Abi. I can feel my face getting hot, and I am totally blushing right now and I don't know why. My heart is beating so fast as well. That was weird. REALLY weird.

The time has come for our competition. We are now at the gym, warming up for the game, to my surprise I was not nervous at all, I am quite calm and I did not feel like this before any game during the past days. Maybe I was just getting the hang of it.

While stretching I can't help but look around, looking for something or someone I guess, I don't know.

"Hey Abi, you okay?" Rach asked looking at me, "Are you looking for someone? If you are looking for Ashton, he's right there" she pointed at my right. I just smiled at her and I waved at Ashton. He just returned the favor and smiled.

The game is just starting, I'm inside the court waiting for the usher to blow the whistle signalling the first player to serve the ball. Just as I heard the sound of the whistle, I saw him entered the gym. I don't know but after that my head is in total peace.

(A/N;: I'm sorry I can't give details of the game, unfortunately, I don't play volleyball and I don't know any rules. Lol)

The first set of the game just ended and we won with 15-12. We will be having another set and if we also won that we will be advancing for the championship, but if not we will be having a third set to know the winner.

I really don't want to turn around but I can literally feel his eyes staring at me from behind. I'm kinda getting annoyed to this it's really uncomfortable and creepy.

"Abi, you look really annoyed, what's the problem? You are doing great inside the court!" One of our team mates commented. Great all of them can notice now.

"No, nothing I just remembered something that's all. And thank you" I smiled to them and they nodded at me taking my excuse, but Rachel I know is not buying it. We heard the sound of the whistle again signalling the start of the second set. Let's get this finish then.

Fast forward after the game :)

We just finished the game and we are at the locker area washing up and changing clothes, some of the team already left and it's just me and Rach with three more girls taking a shower.

"I can't believe we won! We are going to the championships! It's so excitingggg!" Rachel squealed near my ear. I coverd my ears with both my hands and rolled my eyes on her.

"Why do you need to be so loud Rachel?" She just grinned at me and suddenly changed her bubble aura to her "detective" ones.

"I noticed you looking very off a while ago, don't think I'm buying your silly excuse" I sighed knowing I can't keep anything from her.

"It's just that lately, I've been feeling someone literally staring me down. I always feel pair of eyes looking at me almost as if they are following ny every move and it's quite annoying you know" I groaned and continued brushing my hair.

"OHMYGOD. Do you have a stalker?! Do I need to tell Ashton? Do I need to tell the police? Tell me!" I chuckled at her dramatic reaction

"No, you silly goose! It's nothing, I can handle it" I said, smiling at her in order to covince her. She just sighed, letting me know she agrees.

"Fine, but if it goes any further than that I'll tell Asthon. Anyways, I need to go, Raven is waiting for me outside. Take care, okay? Byeee!" She hugged me and I waved goodbye at her too. I guess it's just me going home tonight.

I am walking to the parking lot where I parked my car obviously, Ashton texted me saying he left already. While walking I was looking inside my bag for my keys to my car.

"Ugh, where are my keys? I can't go home without you keys" I'm getting really frustrated that I can't find my keys. I just want to go home, I'm really tired.

"Oh myyyy, where are my damn ke--"

And with that, I just felt myself crashing into someone I closed my eyes and braced myself for the impact, waiting for my body to drop to the floor. But I felt nothing, I slowly opened my eyes, and saw him holding me by my waist to prevent me from falling. My eyes grew wide and I jumped off his grip.

"I- I'm so s-sorry. I did not see you, I was just looking for my keys in my bag but I can't find it and I'm getting really frustrated, I just want to go home. I'm really really sorry" Oh god, why did I just starting rumbling. I sighed and I looked down feeling embarassed. I was shocked when I heard him chuckle, and I looked up at him.

"It's okay, don't panic I don't bite. Did you find your keys then?" He said still having that smirk on his face.

"Uh, I can't f-find it yet" I started looking inside my bag again getting really really frustrated now. I feel him moving towards me, just when I saw the keychain of my keys. I quickly pulled it out my bag "Ah! Found it!" I said, my smile so wide. He just shook his head in disbelief.

"Okay then, you can go home now" I nodded and said thank you in a really soft voice, suddenly being very shy. I started walking away towards my car when I heard him call my name.

"Xyrene" I stopped my tracks, and froze, no one has ever called me by my second name this is the very first time I heard my second name from someone else, not gonna lie, I kinda like it coming from him.

I slowly turned around, and raised my eyebrow asking him to continue "Be careful and drive safely" He said in a very serious tone. I smiled and nodded at him before walking towards my car. Once I got in, I said to myself.

"You are not so scary as everyone thought you'd be. You surprise me Jake Aidan"
