Brick, cement, brick, cement
Building building up
Patterns emerge inside the wall
Beautiful, so colourful
So full of memories and fun
Explaining the life they have
He builds it up, higher, higher
Reaching to the skyEach one placed with careful planning
So delicately done
The woman sits atop the wall
He stands and stares at her
She is off centre
Her clothes don't match
Her teeth are slightly crooked.
The man sees red, his anger bubblesHe runs away from her
She calls to him, distressed, confused
Why would he run away?
She is left all alone, so sad
Didn't he love me? She thinks.
She feels so numb and thinks about
The time they've spent together
All the years they've livedThe wall she sits atop right now,
So filled with joy and love
Why would he leave her
Raised so high
Why won't he come back?
Just when she thinks he's gone
He's back, she sees him driving up
The bulldozer beneath him.She stares in awe, he finally came
"He really does love me!"
Until the wreaking ball begins
To swing closer to her wall
She flinches, he must be joking
There's no way this is real.
The ball misses by half an inch
She smiles, see? just a prank. He frowns at her relief
Is she gloating? Playing with him
She always did do things wrong
Make him sad and angry
She always made silly mistakes
Never did things right
He couldn't stand to look at her now
He readjusts his vehicleShe watches, smile still in place
As the ball comes once again
This time hitting right on mark
The middle of the wall
The bricks crumble, patterns lost
Pictures fade to grey
The whole structure falling down
Memories turning sourThe woman screams, terrified
"How could he do this to me?"
Hes always had a temper but why
Would he destroy everything?
She tumbles down among rubble
Buried underneath
He simply stands and watches
As his whole world crumbles downThe dust settles and he smiles
Finally she is broken
An ache inside him tells him
To start the process again
Something about it excited him
The way she screamed
When he betrayed her
It felt totally addictiveHe walked towards the rubble
Digging her broken body out
Her breathing now is shallow
Blood pouring from everywhere
He moves her to the side
Where she can heal slightly
And he gathers up the bricks
Gently, patiently, kindlyShe watches as he tries
To fix what he just broke
And her heart begins to mend
As she watches the man she loves
His back turned to her broken form
Picking at the bricks
He really must be sorry, he cares
To go through all of this! But what she doesn't see
Is the look upon his face
The one disturbing smile
Etched into his skull
As he thinks of all the power
he feels inside of him
And as he starts to build
And she falls in love againHe chuckles to himself
And looks forward to the fall
Once he's built her up once more
So he can send her crashing down
The feeling of strength inside him
Spurs him on to build
Desperate to start again
To cause her pain once moreBrick, cement, brick, cement
Building building up
Patterns, darker than before
Form inside the walls
But she doesn't seem to notice
She is hypnotized by him
And she doesn't see the monster
That clearly lies within.
