The right mood

The right setting is oh so important,
Get away, go lie on a beach,
Watch palm trees sway under skies,
Cool blue, almost within reach.

Go climb a mountain and watch,
The world go by from the top,
Roam through forests thick with green,
Watch rivers flow without stop.

Go out and find adventure,
That will liven up your words,
And fill your stories with truth,
With reality never yet heard.

But, though settings are very important,
And they help us find our way,
What of moods and feelings inside,
How do they impact day to day?

You see you can travel the world,
3 times over and yet never find,
Inspiration to make your words different,
To make your writing one of a kind.

You need the right mood inside you,
That bubbles out into your pen,
And scribbles itself down on paper,
Without ever seeming to end.

Anyone can go to the beach,
Climb a mountain or walk in the woods,
But no one can feel what you feel,
So use that, and use it good.

Take emotions deep in your heart,
And describe what they look like to you,
What they do, how they move, what they say,
You'll find you like it more too.

They say always write what you know,
But things we know are hard to find,
What of fairies and monsters and aliens?
They only exist in our minds.

So instead of travelling the world,
For inspiration on what to say,
Just look inside at your moods,
And use them to guide your way.

Express what you think and feel,
In any way that you decide,
Describe anger as small, red and hairy,
Or innocence as a blushing bride.

Don't write only what you know,
Write what you feel as well,
Bring your inner emotions to life,
This secret to you I now tell.

"The right setting is oh so important."
Such foolish words are these.
The right mood is the key my friend,
And now, you have all you need.
