Homecoming week✨
Camryn Pov.
My side eventually stopped hurting later on that night. Probably because I wasn't so focused on it after my phone call with Leon.
I couldn't stop thinking about what he said about a bet. I know it's stupid to overthink something so little but I can't help it. Chris told me that he gave him the headband for his birthday but I just found out he won it over a bet.
Why would he lie about a headband?
"Camryn, you got a visitor." I heard Kiera sing when I just got out the shower.
"I'll be out in just a minute." I quickly put my clothes on and sprinted out the room, only to see my mother standing there with her arms crossed.
"Hey Camryn."
"Hey....What're you doing here?" I asked. I honestly expected to see Chris.
"I'm here to check on you."
"You literally just called me the day before yesterday."
"I can't see you?" She asked.
"You couldn't wait till next month?" Kiera left as my mom put her purse down on my bed.
"No, I just couldn't wait to see you again...who is that girl?" She asked.
"That's Kiera, my roommate."
"She looks like a clown...and you look like a hobo, why are you dressed like this?" She asked picking at my clothes.
"I'm just going to class, I don't need to wear anything special." I said looking down at my sweatshirt and shorts.
"And what did I tell you about braids? Lord, ever since you got in college you've broken all the rules I set for you."
"I like wearing braids. I don't have to do anything to my hair when I wake up." I shrugged.
"Did you change your—"
"No mom, I did not change my major and I'm not going to. I enjoy taking pictures."
"I didn't ask about what you enjoyed doing. You need a job that'll make you enough money so you won't have to depend on others in the future." She argued.
"I won't have to depend on others. You act like photography is such a bad job, it's something I enjoy doing. Why can't you just accept that?"
"I want what's best for you. I mean, what got you started on photography anyways? You can be a doctor and take pictures at the same time."
"I don't wanna be a doctor. The medical field does not interest me." I said.
"Be a lawyer."
"No. I don't like defending people I don't know. I'm not Sierra nor Taylor."
"You make us look so weird." She laughed.
"How so?"
"Oh look, there goes a family full of doctors and lawyers, oh wait...Camryn's a photographer."
"Welp." I shrugged my shoulders and grabbed my books.
"I have to go...I don't know why you came all the way over here."
"I'm staying in town for a couple of nights. I'll see you later." She said leaving.
I love my mom, but she's very aggravating.
After waiting 10 minutes, I left my dorm and went outside to see Chris's car parked with him on the hood.
"Why you didn't return any of my calls last night?" He asked sliding off his car.
