Part 12

Pt.12
"Uh, Veronica..?" Jughead says to get her attention.

They were on the roof, for some reason Veronica chose to go there. Veronica turns around alarmed by his voice and he finally gets a good look of her face.

"I'm sorry for being a jerk..."

"Yeah it's okay.."

"Are YOU okay?"

"I-I don't know."

"Do you wanna talk about it?"

"This is the second time you've offered to be my therapist Jughead Jones."

He chuckled, "so... what's bothering you?"

"I just, I forgave my father so easily, and for you, for Betty, for Archie I turned on him in a heartbeat when I traded him the White Wyrm for Pop's. I guess I can't completely hate him. No matter how hard I try. He's still my dad. The time that I had to spend alone with my mom while he was in prison...I don't want to go through that again. I don't want to have to leave riverdale or you guys. On the other hand, I don't want to incriminate Archie either by ruling it as a self defense. I'm conflicted," She confessed.

"Veronica... I know this may be hard to hear but turning your father in is the only way. People die because of him. I get where you're coming from though, I really do. When my dad was in jail, all I wanted was for him to come out even though all signs pointed to him being guilty. Hell, he even confessed to it. Now I know that he didn't do anything but back then I didn't know and I still supported him."

"Yeah, but I don't want to leave riverdale. I know that my moms first instinct is to pack up and leave whenever something goes wrong..."

"Veronica, we won't let you leave. In fact... I'm so sorry. I've always blamed you for everything your father did when in reality I would've done the same... I did do the same."

"Jughead, it's okay. If I put myself in your shoes, I would've hated me too. You lost so much because of my dad."

"I never hated you. Disliked, yes, but never  hated. Especially not after everything you've done for my family after turning on your father," Jughead says.

"Maybe if I hadn't done that Archie wouldn't have have been arrested.."

"Do you regret it?"

Veronica took a couple minutes to reply, "No, I don't."

"How about we head back inside?" Jughead says after a long comfortable silence.

"Yeah let's go."

After another hour....
"Smithers is here," Veronica said waking Betty from her nap.

"Okay let's go," Betty replied.

"Jughead already took everything down."
"Okay, are you guys good now?"

"Yeah, I think we are, on my part at least."

Betty and Veronica got into the car. Betty was in between Jughead and Veronica. (Figuratively and literally lmfaooo).
The ride seemed longer on the way back since all of them were occupied by their thoughts.
