SHAY'S POV

I walk inside and hand my mother the groceries. "That took longer than I expected. Thank you honey." She gives me a quick hug and continues with dinner.

I walk upstairs and resume my position on my bed. Just then, I hear my phone buzz, indicating I received a text. I check the ID and it's from an unknown number. I open the message and read, 'It's Sam. I'll pick you up around 6:50 tomorrow morn.' I type in, 'Cool. Thanks again.' and press send.

The rest of my evening is uneventful. I eat dinner and look over my class schedule, my thoughts still preoccupied with Jack and Sam. If that's what boys from Omaha look like when they're out running errands, I can't even imagine how sexy they look dressed up. I try to get myself to stop thinking about them, but I can't help it. The way they smiled, the way they laughed, they way they looked at me...

*The Next Morning*

I'm awaken by the sound of constant beeping. I turn my phone's alarm off and rub my eyes. I lay in bed for another couple of minutes before walking to the bathroom. I take a quick shower and decide to attempt to look somewhat nice on my first day. I grab a pair of high waisted shorts and tuck a loose tank top in it, revealing some cleavage. I pair my outfit with some white vans and apply my makeup.

Once I'm finished getting ready, I go downstairs for breakfast and wait for Sam. Suddenly, I hear a horn honk and I give my mom a quick kiss goodbye. "Shay, who is that?!" I hear her call after me. "A friend." I close the front door and walk to his car.

Sam is wearing ray bans with a plain white t-shirt, and he looks damn good. I scootch into the passenger seat and say a quick 'hi.'

"Good morning." Sam looks at me and smiles. He pulls out of my driveway and we're off to school.

After a moment of silence, Sam asks, "So what's your first period?"

I take my class schedule out of my backpack and read, "Calculus."

Sam looks at me with an apologetic expression, "I am truly sorry you have math as your first period."

I giggle and reply, "Me too."

I tell him the rest of my schedule and he gives a brief rundown of all the teachers and classes. Before I know it, he parks his car in front of the school.

"Welcome to Westside High, Shay." He takes his sunglasses off and smiles at me. "I'll take you to your first period."

We grab our backpacks and walk through the front doors. I look around; it didn't seem too different from my high school in Florida. Besides the fact everyone wasn't tan.

Sam and I walk side by side down the hall, and I can feel the stares behind my back. Sam says hi to several of his friends and I can see the confused looks on their faces when they see me next to him.

"Well, this is it." He stops in front of a classroom and turns to me. "Best of luck in your first ever class at Westside. I'll meet you in the parking lot after school." The bell rings and Sam gives me a quick smile before walking away.

I take a deep breath and walk into the class. I pick a seat in the middle of the classroom as the room starts to fill in. I feel people staring at me and whispering to their friends. Who is she? Is she new? Why was she walking with Sam?

I glance at the door and a familiar face catches my eye. His eyes met with me and his lips curved into a smile.

"Fancy seeing you here, Shay. I didn't think it was possible for a pretty girl to be a nerd." Jack jokes and sits down next to me.
