JACK’S POV

I pick up my phone and dial in Jack J’s number. I press call and put the phone to my ear. Four rings later, JJ answers the call and says in a raspy voice, “Hello?”

"Jack?"

"What?"

"Did you just wake up?"

JJ replies midyawn, “Yup, thanks to you.”

"Sorry. I’m bored as hell and Sam isn’t picking up."

"He’s with Shay."

There’s a moment of silence. I let the words sink in and ask, “How do you know?”

"He told me last night."

Another silence.

"What uh…what are they doing?" I ask, trying to sound casual.

"I dunno, I think he’s taking her to Fun Plex or something." He pauses. "It’s way too early for this, man. Can I call you back?"

I mutter, “Yeah.” And hang up. I throw my phone across the room and it lands in the carpet.

I put my head in my hands and rub my face. I try to shake my feelings of anger and jealousy by turning on the TV.

It doesn’t help. My mind creates endless images of Shay and Sam together and I squeeze my eyes shut. You agreed to this, Jack. You can’t be mad.

But I want her.

SHAY’S POV

A week has passed since spring break started. Since I made that ridiculous agreement to date two guys at the same time. I’ve spent everyday so far with at least one of the two, and I’m drowning in guilt because I refuse to even think about choosing between them. I hate myself for being so selfish. I want them both.

My thoughts are interrupted by my phone’s constant buzzing. I take it out of my back pocket and read the ID: Jack.

I feel butterflies form in my stomach and I answer the call, “Jack?”

"Hi, I’m picking you up."

I giggle, “Do I get a say in this?”

"Nope. Be ready in 10." I smirk to myself and hang up. I let out a sigh of relief, knowing my mind would soon be distracted.

I throw on jean shorts and a loose shirt that reveals one of my shoulders. I let my long hair out of a braid and apply my makeup. Just as I’m putting my mascara wand back into the container, I hear my doorbell ring.

I walk downstairs and peer out the window. Jack is wearing a college sweatshirt over khaki shorts and vans with white mid-calves. I smile at the sight of him and open the door, “Hello handsome, where are we going?”

He smiles at me and nods his head towards his car. I step outside and we walk over to his vehicle, side by side. I slip into the passenger seat as Jack slides into the driver’s seat. He starts the car and says, “You’re not one of those diet obsessed girls, are you?”

I raise an eyebrow and look at him incredulously, “In no way, shape or form.”

He lets out a sigh of relief and says, “Thank goodness. Cause we’re about to eat so much ice cream.” He glances at me with wide eyes and I burst out laughing.

"Shay, I don’t think you understand. The place we’re headed right now is literally the best ice cream in the world. The world, Shay.” He looks at me with the same eyes and I can’t control my laughter. (A/N: I actually burst out laughing when I imagined Jack’s face lol)
