Good Lars

•Steven's pov:
I was talking with Amethyst until I heard someone walking up the stairs. At first I thought it was going to be Pearl but instead it was,
"Lars?!" I yell and Lars stands outside the door. I run to the door and I open it. He puts his hand in his pockets and walks towards the stools.
"Where's Y/N?" Lars asks me and at first i'm shocked. He looks so sad, his eyes are bloodshot and his hair is messy. I look over at Amethyst and she looks very confused. Neither of us answer and he looks angry.
"Where's Y/N?! She hasn't been home for days! I'm worried sick!" Lars yell and I jump. I still don't answer and his eyes get huge.
"Where. The. Hell. Is. She?!" Lars says slowly and calmly but he lets anger slip out. I lower my head and I sigh.
"She's in space." I tell Lars and he scoffs.
"Really? And i'm a flying elephant. Where is she actually?" Lars asks and I put my head up.
"She's in space! I'm being serious. The diamonds took her and now she's in space. I'm not lying either Lars." I tell Lars but he still looks unsure.
"So these 'diamonds' why did they take her? Is it because she was hanging out with you and your weird friends?" Lars asks and I hear Amethyst scoff.
"We tried to help! They still took her though, we were trying to keep her here and safe. Shouldn't you be glad that we tried to help instead of being a rude jerk?!" Amethyst yells and steps forward. Lars takes a step back and holds up his hands in surrender. 
"Just tell me where she is. I don't have a key for her apartment and I miss her. I just need her to see her pretty face. This has to be a joke, right? Is she messing with me?" Lars asks but the look in his eyes tells me he already knows that this isn't a joke. I shake my head and Lars dips down his head.
"Lars i'm sorry but it's true. The diamonds took her, and they won't give her back so we're making a ship to go find her. We have the best people working on the ship." I tell Lars and he breaks down. He starts to cry and he raises his hand up to his face. He sobs into his hand and I walk towards him. I place a hand on his back and I try to make him feel better. It made Y/N feel better when she was upset. Lars removes his hand from his mouth and chokes out words.
"I didn't even get to tell her I love her! What if she doesn't come back? What will I do without her?" Lars cries even more and I don't know what to say. Y/N didn't like guys, she likes girls. And she loves Garnet. I have to tell him, I don't want him to love someone who won't love him back. Right as i'm thinking this I hear the temple door open and Garnet steps out. I turn around and see that she still looks angry. Once she catches me looking she puts on a smile and I simply smile back. I turn back around and see Amethyst looking at Garnet. Amethyst then smirks and turns back towards Lars.
"Why do you love Y/N?" Amethyst asks Lars, with a smile on her face. I look at Garnet and she's frozen in place.
"What did you just say?" Garnet asks and I open my mouth with shock.
"Oh I was just asking Lars why he loves Y/N." Amethyst says nonchalantly. Garnet sighs and yells.
"Why does every single person she meets love her?! That's unfair! How can we get together if this boy and a Jasper just say they love her?! It's infuriating!" Garnet says out loud and I look at Lars. He looks scared but then it seems like a switch got turned on in his head.
"Wait you like Y/N too? And what's a Jasper?" Lars questions but Garnet gives him a look at he seems like he instantly regrets asking those questions.
"I love her and she loves me. She doesn't like boys and I want her back so I know that she's okay. I just want to see her smile when she wins at training with Pearl. I just want Y/N and I want to tell her it's going to be okay." Garnet tells Lars and he sighs. I look over at Amethyst and she seems she got what she wanted to see from Garnet.
"Oh.... I thought Y/N liked me back." Lars says to everyone.
"Well she doesn't." Garnet tells Lars harshly and he lowers his head. I hear him sniffle and I frown. I walk towards Amethyst and I whisper in her ear.
"Is this what you wanted?" I ask her. She gives me a sorrowful look and she shakes her head. I sigh and I step towards Lars.
"Lars i'm sorry. You shouldn't be led on though, can't you talk with Sadie? She loves your company." I tell Lars and he just nods his head. He picks up his head and he gives me a look.(The picture above.) 
"Okay, i'll just see Sadie." Lars tells me and he begins to walk away. He walks with a hunch on his back and he quickly opens and closes the door. I turn towards Garnet and Amethyst and I feel anger build inside me.
"What was that for!?" I yell and I notice Amethyst jump up in shock. Garnet just crosses her arms.
"He needs to know that Y/N won't love him, ever. She likes girls not guys like that kid." Garnet tells me and I scoff.
"You don't own Y/N. She can date whoever she wants. If she saw you like this she would never like you again." I tell Garnet and I see that her jaw clenches. I shouldn't have said that. She walks towards me and points a finger.
"You have no idea what it feels like to see the person you love give themselves up because they wanted to save you! You have no idea what it feels like. I was heartbroken, I promised to keep her safe but she was the one that kept me safe! She was important to everyone!! But i'm....i'm just a fusion who shouldn't exist.... Now i've messed everything up and I think that if I was shattered on homeworld none of you would have to worry about me screwing everything up. I should just go." Garnet told us and Amethyst and I just stood in shock. Garnet walked to the door but Amethyst spoke.
"Wait!" Amethyst yells and Garnet stops. She turns around and looks straight at Amethyst.
"Don't say that Garnet. I've felt like nothing before and if Y/N fuses with you again, she'll feel that you feel like nothing. I've felt like nothing for awhile, and I don't want you to feel like that. It sucks and if I see a gem like you feel bad then every Crystal gem will feel that hatred. Just think about Y/N, what will she say when she see's you like this? That smile you love so much will disappear. Please don't give up." Amethyst says and I feel sorry for her. She always seems so happy and free spirited but I always forget she feels that way. I guess everyone forgets she feels that way, it's so hard to tell. I hear Garnet sigh and she walks towards Amethyst. She places an arm on her shoulder and looks down at her.
"Your right. I make everyone complete. I shouldn't give up on the gems or Y/N. Thank you Amethyst. Would I be a good leader if I was always sad?" Garnet asks with a chuckle. Amethyst just nods her head.
"You would be a horrible leader." I say out loud. I say it like it's a joke and I laugh. Amethyst and Garnet just chuckle and Garnet walks towards the door. She turns around and looks at Amethyst and I. She smiles and opens her mouth to speak.
"I'm not just the only leader. Everyone's a leader in their own way, and I should never forget that." Garnet says and turns to the door. It soon opens and she steps in and the door closes behind her. I look over at Amethyst and she still looks sad.
"Amethyst...." I tell her but she walks towards the door Garnet just entered.
"Amethyst i'm sorry for what you've gone through. You always seem so happy about life and about yourself. I think everyone forgets that your like that. Even if you don't think you can talk to anyone, we're willing to listen." I tell Amethyst and she just sighs. The door opens and she steps in her room and the door closes behind her. I sit on a stool and I think of what to eat. I could go to the big donut and I could see if Lars is working and feeling better. I smile and I get off the stool. I walk towards the screen door and I push it open. I walk down the steps and I hear it close. I run to the big donut and once I get to the big donut I push the doors open and I see Sadie. For the first time i'm upset that it's Sadie working. She looks bored like she usually does, but at least she seems happy. Once she see's me she smiles slightly and she grabs a napkin.
"What would you like Steven?" Sadie asks me and I smile.
"I'd like an apple cider donut please." I tell Sadie and she picks up an apple cider donut with the napkin she recently picked up. She picks it up and puts it in a baggy with the big donut logo.
"That'll be $1.05 please." Sadie tells me and I smile. I dig in my pocket and I pull out a dollar and a dime.
"Keep the change." I tell Sadie. I try to sound cool but when I say it out loud it doesn't sound like I thought it would.
"Where's Lars?" I ask Sadie and she sighs.
"Who knows. I saw him running away and he looked to be crying. I don't know what that was about, but it was probably because those cool kids didn't want to hangout with him." Sadie tells me and I lower my head down.
"I know why he was crying...." I tell Sadie and she straightens up.
"Is he okay? Did something happen to him?" Sadie asks and I shake my head.
"A broken heart is what happened to him.
Y/N was stolen by the diamonds and he came by the temple to see if she was there. He said her loved her but Garnet over heard him saying that and got angry. You see, Garnet and Y/N love eachother but they didn't get to tell eachother." I tell Sadie some what quickly, and I take a deep breath. Sadie's eyes are somewhat huge, she looks shocked and sad at the same time.
"Lars loved Y/N? Wasn't Y/N the one who you paid the donut for her because she didn't have any money?" Sadie asks and I nod. She slightly looks down, and I see her eyes get slightly red. She breathes in a breath and looks back at me.
"Have a good day Steven." Sadie tells me but I give her a curious look.
"Are you-" I start to ask Sadie but she speaks.
"I said have a good day." Sadie says angrily and I just nod. I turn around and I open the doors. I walk towards Lars' house and I gently knock on the door. I soon hear footsteps and the door opens. I see Lars' tall mom with ginger hair and she looks down at me.
"Yes?" She asks.
"Is Lars here?" I ask her a question and she turns her head.
"Lars!" She yells and I hear footsteps on some stairs and Lars comes into view. He sighs and looks at me.
"What do you want?" Lars sneers.
"I want to talk to you. Can I come in?" I ask Lars but he just scoffs.
"Absolutely not." Lars tells me and he scowls down at me. Lars' mom's eyes pop open and she looks at him.
"Of course you can! I would like to see my little boy playing with others." His mom says and pinches his cheek.
"Mom..." Lars whines and she just chuckles. Lars' mom soon let's go of his cheek and she smiles down at me.
"Lars, please talk to Steven in your room." Lars' mom tells him and he just sighs.
"Fine." Lars says and walks towards some stairs leading to the 2nd floor. Lars walks up them and I follow suit. We take a turn to the right and I see a few doors but Lars stops at a door and he opens it. He walks in and throws his arms to his sides.
"Welcome to my domain." Lars says and sits on a king sized bed with black sheets, and 4 big pillows. I just stand in front of the door, awkwardly.
"Instead of sitting there and acting weird just tell me what you wanted to talk about." Lars snaps at me angrily and I just nod.
"I wanted to say sorry for what Garnet said. She just really misses Y/N, like you do. We're trying our best to get Y/N back, we really are, but it will take us a few weeks to make an actual working ship." I tell Lars and he just nods.
"I can't believe Y/N was taken into space! What if she dies? What if she gets injured? What if she forgets me, you, and your friends? We'll be screwed if that happens." Lars tells me and I just nod. He puts his face in his hands and I hear him sniffle. I frown and I walk towards his bed and I sit down next to him. I rub his back for a little bit until I hear him sigh. He picks up his head and he rubs his nose with his hand. I take a moment to look and see how red and tear stained his face is. He really does miss her, it just sucks Y/N loves someone else. He soon stands up and he looks down at me. He has a slight smile on his face and he looks at me, as if he's happy I came and talked to him.
"Thanks Steven. It's probably time I go and speak to Sadie. We can walk out together if you want." Lars tells me and I smile ear from ear. I feel like ever since Y/N came around Lars and I have become friends. I stand up and I follow Lars down the stairs and we soon reach the door. Before opening the door Lars turns his head and opens his mouth.
"Mom! I'm heading out, I'll be back soon!" Lars yells and he quickly opens the door. We walk out of his house and we walk away from it. I only hear my sandals hit the ground until Lars turns towards me.
"Thank you Steven. I'm sorry to leave you here but i'm gonna go see if Sadie will talk to me. I'll see you later Steven." Lars tells me and walks towards the Big donut. I just nod my head and I walk around Beach city. It's peaceful and I don't really hear anything except for some seagulls every now and then. I keep walking until I hear some muffled cries. I walk towards the noise and I notice the cries come from an alley. I summon my shield and I walk towards the muffled cries. I walk slowly towards the noise until I see a figure sitting down in the corner of the alleyway. I make my shield disappear and I keep walking towards the figure. I look at the figure until I realize who it is.
"Pearl?"
