Well, I thought I had posted this chapter the whole time. Sorry for how short it is. I promise I'm taking the story somewhere! And thank you for the people who are willing to help! It's really motivating to see how loved this book is! :D
My hand tightens its grip on the stuffed monkey, who swiftly disagrees. Without thinking, I run. My feet pound against the old wooden floor, my arms pump furiously, and my legs quickly start to burn. The monkey is still in my hand, screaming angrily at me. Eventually, I hear yelling.
I stop and listen, but the monkey is making a lot of noise. The yelling is louder, though. It's Jason's yelling. I walk through the halls, listening. As much as I'd hate to see what's making Jason so angry, my curiosity compels me to find out.
There are still dolls in the hallway, creepily staring at me but not doing anything. I can feel their plastic eyes burn the back of my skull. I arrive at a part that looks like a "T". I look down both hallways but there's nothing interesting about either of them.
Suddenly, the monkey asks, "Ya' wanna know what that yellin's all about? If ya' go to the left, I bet yer gonna see what all the fuss is about." I think for a second then I go right. "Ey! This isn't the right way!"
"Actually, it is." I mentally pat myself on the back for that. The monkey huffs then thrash around a little more. I keep heading down the hallway until the toys on the shelving look at me again. They turn their heads and stare. I walk a little slower and as soon as I get closer they all start getting up.
Uh oh.
