My friend stepped through the door, careful not to trip from the wall that went up to their waist. They stood in front to door in, from what I could see, amusement. I pushed them a little roughly to make room for my entrance and they stumbled but didn't fall, not taking their eyes off of the room's decor. Now that I was in the room
I could see their face clearly now: their eyes were pink and puffy from tears that had dampened their face, their mouth was slightly open in awe, and their body had a rigid posture of unease and fear, delicious. They didn't move for a few moments and refused to look in my direction. I wasn't very pleased with the lack of attention so I leaned down behind them and whispered in their ear, "You know, we still have to make that promise official." They jump at the sudden creepy whisper in their ear, breaking them from the trance they were in.
(Y/N) looks at me with wide eyes, processing the new information then willed me to elaborate. I smiled wickedly at their dumbfounded features, their ignorance that will soon turn into fear. "Well, I know that you already agreed to be my friend but this time I'm going to formally ask you then you agree, and if you don't..." I let my smile stretch a little wider, showing my pointed teeth to show I wasn't playing this time. "Let's just say at least you'd die a little prettier than your mother."
Mentioning their mother caused them to frown deeply and I could practically see the memory of their mother's corpse in their eyes. I became satisfied with the evident sorrow and fear perfectly lace around their face then tie themselves together into a neat little bow called distress. That face reminds me... Oh! I'll show them after our promise!
"Anyways, let's get all of that formal jibber-jabber out of the way!" I cleared my throat dramatically. "(Y/N), do you promise to be my best friend in the whole world and will never, ever leave me or forget me?" I could see their mouth open but then close as they took real consideration into the decision. I pouted at their hesitation, do they not want to friends with me after all?
Their eyebrows gravitated towards each other in a thoughtful way as they weighed their options. Their eyes looked at the ground but also seemed to look past it, too, as if they saw their thoughts swirling beyond the old wooden floor. Finally, (Y/N) looked up as they made their choice.
They held a sort of uncertainty in their features but tried to hide their feelings by acting determined or at least sure of their answer. "Yes."
It made me almost feel a little better that they at least preferred me over death, honestly. Even though I'd never admit to it, I did feel a little fear that they'd reject my offer and would accept their fate, but then I wondered why.
(Y/N) is just another human, if they wanted to be a part of my beautiful collection, then what would be stopping me? A sort of fear ran through me at the question, what would be stopping me? What is stopping me?
