Reaching the bottom of the hill, the girls are spot something that neither of them had seen before, a dragon. Its scaly back was a mixture of blue and green which made it obvious that it was a water dragon so that instead of breathing fire, it let out water.
"This way!" shouted Arabella, trying to be heard above the dragon's loud roars. They both took off towards the dragon and leaped onto its rough back. it had obviously felt something as just two seconds after Maria got on it had taken off, with Arabella only just getting on in time.
As they flew through the air the two girls celebrated over their victory and decided what they were going to say when they got back home. Their father was definitely going to be worried so they couldn't wait to get home. While they were still rising they were able to hear the loud screams of Aojo and the birds squawking in the nearby trees. The Mockingjays were still singing the tune and were following the dragon at its tail though they had to occasionally duck to avoid the flicking, which could be fatal.
