Autumn Kisses

Chapter 2- Thoughts and doubts

Anne entered the house searching for Marilla.

"Oh Marilla, I'm truly sorry! I was in the woods with Gilbert and I totally forgot that I had to go to Charlottetown!"

"Anne! Where is your mind lately?" said Marilla frustrated

"I'm really sorry that I forgot something like that, Marilla! I promise you it will never happen again. Would you forgive me?"

"I already have. But I'm not sure about Matthew" said Marilla and smiled.

"Where is Matthew?" Anne asked.

"He went to Charlottetown to buy the herbs" Marilla said.

"Anyway what happened, happened" Marilla added and put a lock of Anne's hair behind her ear.

"Go upstairs and change. Then come and help me to prepare the table for dinner" 

Anne ran to her room skipping some stairs. She changed her clothes quickly but found herself sitting on her bed and staring outside the window. She kept thinking what was about to happen some minutes ago. 

"I nearly kissed Gilbert, didn't I?" she whispered to herself.

Anne knew that the right time for the first kiss is different for everyone. But despite the differences, she believed that everything is perfect. Like you're in a fairy tale with princes and princesses. Or maybe in a beautiful painting whose creator's story is tragical and melancholic.. What if that was the right time for Anne's first kiss? What if she lost her one and only opportunity right inside of her hands?

"No. No that's not possible. If that was the perfect time, it wouldn't be destroyed so easily." Anne thought to herself.

"Anne, is everything alright?" said Marilla from downstairs, interrupting Anne's thoughts.

"Um.. Yes! I'll be there in a minute!" said the girl as she got up intensely.

"Hurry! There's someone here who wants to see you!" added Marilla

Anne's eyes widened. She ran out of her room closing her room's door behind her. Anne loves surprises, but would she love this one?
