Chapter 11- I love you

~GILBERT'S POV~

After school, as Anne walked home with Josie, Gilbert decided that it would be a great idea to accompany Diana back home, and she happily accepted.

"So Diana? Was Anne ok today? Did I do something to make her not want to talk to me?" Gilbert finally said, breaking the comfortable silence between the two, a bit worried of the answer Diana would give.

"Oh Gilbert! Don't worry! I can assure you she is completely fine. But she is trying to get used to this whole thing with you two." Diana said, slightly and quietly giggling at the end.

"Yes but we've been together for a while now." Gilbert said, after realizing a sigh of relief.

"Well, as I recall, you only kissed now, so it's normal. Don't forget Anne has been through a lot and she needs some time to feel comfortable. Anne truly loves you Gilbert and she's pretty aware of that. If you give her some time you'll see she'll relax, but nothing will change. Just keep being the slate face she fell in love with" Diana said, adding a teasing tone in the latter.

Gilbert laughed and the two friends continued walking. Once they approached Diana's house, they said their goodbyes and Gilbert headed home, thinking of blue eyes and milky, freckled complexions.

"Bash! I'm home!!" Gilbert whisper shouted, not wanting to wake up Bash's and Mary's son.

"Hey Blythe, how was school?" Bash asked running down the stairs on his toes.

"It was great but a bit tiring" Gilbert said.

"Oh well, then would it be too hard for you to keep Phillip while Mary and I go shopping in Charlottetown?" Bash asked. (Lol thanks to Courtney aka @ourblythe for the name, ily)

"No no, don't worry, it's fine. I'm glad to spend some time with him" Gilbert said and smiled at Bash. He returned the smile and thanked Gilbert. Then he went upstairs to tell Mary and get ready. Soon the two of them were downstairs with the dark haired boy.

"If he wakes up, just read him the book with the little doctor. He really does love that one! I swear to god if he becomes a little Gilbert-" Bash started saying but Mary interrupted him.

"-It'll be wonderful! Now let's go before the stores close. Goodbye Gilbert! We'll be back in no time!" Mary said and smiled to Gilbert.

Gilbert laughed at what Bash had said and said goodbye to the couple. Then he quickly went upstairs to check on the baby.

When he got to Phillips room, he sat on the chair next to him.

"Hey little buddy" Gilbert whispered so quietly, that it was hardly audible, and smiled.

~ANNE'S POV~

After Anne got inside the house, she ran upstairs to change.

"Hello Marilla!" Anne said as long as she came back downstairs and gave a sweet kiss on her adoptive mother's cheek.

"Hello Anne. How was school?" Marilla said, not taking her eyes off of what she was doing.

"It was great! We learned so many new things! Oh miss Stacy is truly a kindred spirit! You know how much I loved school before but now I love it even more! It is such a thrill to have such a passionate and amazing person as your teacher!" Anne said with a wide smile. Marilla quietly chuckled at Anne's words.

"I'm glad you're happy. Oh Anne? I almost forgot! Could you please go to Gilbert's and tell him that Mary, Bash and him are invited for dinner, next Friday? And give them these cookies too!" Marilla said.

"Why, of course Marilla. I'll be back soon!" Anne said. After she wore her coat and hat, she took a basket full of cookies and ran to the Blythe-Lacroix residence.

~THIRD PERSON'S POV~

When Anne approached the house, she fixed her braids and straightened her dress before knocking. Gilbert had Phillip asleep in his arms, who woke up, and was walking back and forth to relax him, when he heard a slight knock on the door. He carefully went down the stairs, still holding the little human, and approached the door.

"Anne! What a wonderful surprise! Come in!" Gilbert whispered and gave Anne a soft smile.

"Oh Gil I'm sorry if I woke him up!" the redhead said and gave the boy a concerned look.

"No no he didn't wake up, don't worry. So what brings you here?" Gilbert while stroking Phillips hands.

"Well, Marilla wanted me to tell you that you, Bash and Mary are invited to our house next Friday for dinner. I also brought you those cookies." Anne said. She couldn't help but smile at the scene. How loving and caring Gilbert was with Phillip. And then, without even thinking, the words slipped out of Anne's mouth.

"Oh, I love you so much." She quietly said eyeing Gilbert and now stroking the baby's head.

"I love you too" Gilbert said and smiled. Suddenly a small grin appeared on Phillip's face, causing both Anne and Gilbert quietly laugh.

"Would you like.. staying for a bit?" Gilbert asked, his green soft eyes meeting her blue ones.

"Of course I would" the girl said while she gave him a sincere smile.

The couple went and sat on the couch next to each other, admiring the calm baby on Gilbert's arms. What a beautiful scene. Not only the baby. The three of them, all together. The room was filled with love, like the hearts of those who were in it.

Author's Note: ok y'all I tried to make this chapter bigger, and the 12th is on its way btw, and I think I'm dead. Why did I get emotional with my own story I'm-
