I needed a distraction.
I barely remembered pulling into Jungkook's driveway, let alone turning off the car. My hands shook as I yanked the keys from the ignition, my movements rushed and reckless. I didn't care that I parked at an awkward angle, didn't care that my breath was coming in uneven gasps. I just needed to see him.
The massive mansion no longer fazed me as I stormed through the grand foyer, my eyes darting around in search of him. His car wasn't in the driveway—so maybe he had parked in the garage. My stomach twisted, a mix of nerves and something more primal pulling me forward.
Then, I heard it. The low hum of the TV from the main living room.
I quickened my pace, the sound grounding me, sharpening my intent.
When I rounded the corner, I found him sprawled on the couch, long legs spread wide, still dressed in his business attire. His tie was loosened, the top buttons of his shirt undone, and his dark hair was disheveled—probably from running his hands through it in frustration. He looked exhausted. But when his eyes met mine, he still managed to offer a bright smile.
It faltered the moment he noticed the wild, unhinged glint in my gaze.
"Hey, you're home early... Ails? Are you—oof!"
I straddled him without hesitation, my hands yanking at his suit jacket, pushing it from his broad shoulders with an almost desperate force.
Jungkook stilled, his hands hovering in the air awkwardly before finally settling on my hips. His grip was firm, grounding, but not forceful. His dark eyes searched mine, flickering with surprise, concern, and something deeper, something darker.
"Okay," he murmured, voice a cool contrast to the fire in my veins. "Not sure what's happening right now, but—"
"I need you," I cut him off, my voice raw, needy, shameless.
His entire body tensed beneath me. I watched as emotions flashed across his face—desire, confusion, hesitation. He swallowed hard, his Adam's apple bobbing as his fingers twitched against my waist.
"Ailene," he said slowly, as if trying to ground me. "You straight up rejected me earlier. Hey—woah, calm down! What's gotten into you?"
He caught my wrists just as I leaned down, stopping me from pressing my lips to his throat. My breath came in sharp, uneven gasps as frustration coiled inside me like a spring wound too tight.
"Urgh! Jungkook, you want to fuck me, don't you?!"
His eyes went impossibly wide. "I... Of course, I do, but you—"
I ripped my hands free from his grasp, reaching between us to palm him through his slacks. Even through the fabric, I felt him twitch, growing hard beneath my touch. He hissed through clenched teeth, his fingers digging into my hips.
"H-hold on a second," he choked out. "You won't even kiss me, but you want this? Right now?"
I didn't answer. I just worked on unfastening his tie completely, fingers fumbling as I moved to the buttons of his shirt.
"You wanted me this morning," I whispered, pressing my lips to his jaw, then lower, trailing heat down his throat. "What's different now?"
I ground against him, the friction sending a jolt of heat through my core. A soft curse escaped his lips, and for a brief, fleeting moment, I thought I had him. I thought I could drown in this, let it consume me, let it take away the ache, the betrayal, the raw feeling of worthlessness clawing at my ribs.
Then his grip tightened.
"Ails... Ailene. Wait."
His voice was different now. Rough, but not with desire. With something else. Something gentler. I didn't stop until he forcibly pushed me back, his hands firm yet careful as he held me away from his neck. That's when I saw it.
