It was impossible to keep my heart steady.

In that moment, our hearts beat in sync, a rhythm only we could hear. The way Jungkook looked at me—his gaze full of something so deep, so overwhelming—made it feel like we were the only two people in existence.

"I love you," I said again, louder this time. There was no hesitation, no uncertainty. I needed him to hear it, to feel it, to know it. My hands cupped his face, my thumbs tracing the soft angles of his cheeks as if I could imprint my words into his skin.

His smile widened, pure and genuine, before he pulled me closer by the waist. "I love you too," he whispered, and the weight of those words sent a warmth spreading through my entire being. A tear slipped down my cheek, but for once, it wasn't from sadness.

He held my gaze, his voice softer now. "I love you more than you know. I don't want anyone else. I want us—together, through everything. No matter what happens, I'll be here. Always." His words weren't dramatic or exaggerated. They were simple, heartfelt, real.

I couldn't look away. I didn't want to. He was my gravity, pulling me in with no chance of escape—not that I wanted one.

Our foreheads pressed together, and I winced slightly at the dull ache from the bump on my head. The moment was so intense, so raw, and yet, reality hit me like a truck.

I just confessed to Jungkook in a hospital gown, with an ugly bruise on my forehead, and probably breath that could knock someone out.

But Jungkook didn't seem to care. If anything, he was smiling even wider.

Before I could dwell on it any further, his lips met mine.

The world fell away.

Everything else ceased to exist—the hospital, the beeping machines, the past, the future. It was just him. Just us. His kiss was slow but deep, like he was savoring every second. My hands instinctively found their way into his hair, tugging gently as he pressed closer. His fingers traced up my spine, sending shivers down my body, and I melted into him completely.

Carefully, he guided me back until my head rested against the pillow, his body hovering over mine but never pressing too hard. His lips never left mine, his touch deliberate but never forceful.

I gasped as his teeth grazed my lower lip, and he took the opportunity to deepen the kiss. His tongue met mine, claiming, teasing, sending a heat spiraling through me. My fingers trailed down his neck, gripping onto his biceps, nails digging in ever so slightly.

A low growl rumbled from his chest. "Princess," he groaned against my lips, his voice thick with something that made my stomach twist in the best way. "You're already making this hard for me."

My entire body went still at his choice of words, heat rushing to my cheeks.

"You're telling me," a voice suddenly rang out, "it's hard for me to watch."

Jungkook and I both jolted apart like we'd been caught committing a crime. Our heads snapped toward the door, where Jin stood casually leaning against the frame, arms crossed, smirking like he had been thoroughly entertained.

"Didn't I say to keep the kinks for his office? Not the hospital. You two are disgusting."

Mortified didn't even begin to describe how I felt.

Jungkook blinked, looking utterly scandalized. "You said to do what with me where?"

I groaned, burying my face in my hands. "That was not the plan. That was never the plan."

Jin's laugh was far too amused for my liking.

"Right, the plan. I was wondering why I suddenly got a text about an 'urgent meeting'." Jungkook turned to me, his expression both exasperated and amused. "So that's why you showed up? You lied your way in?"

"Technically, Jin lied. I just... went along with it."

Jin beamed. "You're welcome, by the way."

I glared. "You are the worst."

"Speaking of which, you owe me for that outfit."

"What?! No way! You have more money than I'll ever see in my life!"

Jungkook chuckled beside me, shaking his head at our bickering. "You two never change."

Jin waved a dismissive hand. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Point is, I'm glad you two finally stopped being idiots and made up. I was getting tired of waiting." He sighed dramatically. "Almost grabbed a scalpel on my way back in, just in case I had to put one of you out of your misery."

Before I could snap at him, a knock on the door interrupted us. A nurse peeked her head inside.

"Excuse the interruption, but have two more visitors."

I glanced at Jin, who had suddenly gone quiet, fiddling with the drawstrings of his hoodie. My stomach twisted in suspicion.

"Jin... did you call my parents?"

He slowly shook his head as two figures stepped inside.

"Uh... not quite."
