We stayed at Jin's house for an entire week.

From the moment we arrived on Sunday to the night we left the following Sunday, it felt like an unspoken agreement that this was a much-needed escape—from school, from work, from the toxic people lingering in my life. Jungkook seemed to need it just as much.

When it was time to leave, he clung to Jin like a koala, arms locked tightly around his torso, dramatically whining about how he would hire a personal driver just to bring Jin over to his place as often as possible.

"I never thought I'd say this, but I'm gonna miss you too, Kook," Jin had grumbled, his face twisted in mock disgust, though his words held genuine warmth.

Somehow, despite their completely different personalities, they had formed a bond. Maybe it was their mutual love for video games, their borderline obsessive appreciation for food, or the shared background of coming from wealthy, successful families. Whatever the reason, I had spent most of the week third-wheeling their bromance—not that I minded. Jungkook needed more friends in his life, and Jin had found someone to bicker with who could actually keep up.

Thankfully, Namjoon covered all my shifts at the bakery. There was no doubt in my mind that he had heard about what happened, meaning I'd have to face him eventually. Just not yet.

I thought back to Jin's words before we left that evening:

--

"You need to live life for you. Be happy."

I nodded, fingers curling around his as we stood at the threshold of his apartment. Jungkook had already said his goodbyes and was heading for the car, leaving Jin and me with a quiet moment.

"Besides, if you want a best friend's opinion, I think Jungkook's better for you."

I snorted, rolling my eyes at his obvious bias. "You're just saying that because you like him more."

Jin stayed serious, his brows raising slightly. "No, really. I saw the way he looked at you all week. This isn't just some fling. That man is beautiful—do you really think he'd wait around and put up with your ass if he only wanted one thing? I mean, come on, he could have any—ow, fuck!"

I made sure to land a solid smack on the side of his head before sprinting for the stairs. He tried to chase me down, but I was too fast.

Blowing him a kiss from below, I burst into laughter when his only response was to flip me off.

"I'll text you!"

And with that, we left.

A week had passed since our return, and I still hadn't mustered the courage to go back to our—his—house to retrieve my things.

Jungkook, much to my protest, convinced me to stay with him in the meantime. Of course, I was settled into one of his multiple guest bedrooms. I wasn't about to make it that easy for him, no matter how tempting it was.

But the subtle gestures? They were starting to wear me down.

Like when I accidentally walked in on him taking a shower, and instead of freaking out, he simply smirked and offered for me to join him. I actually considered it.

Not my fault he's so damn attractive.

He had also become a lot more... touchy. When we watched Iron Man in his home theater yesterday, he gave my ass a firm spank when I got up for more popcorn.
